CHESTER COUNTY — The County Studio Tour in Chester County, a staple in the Brandywine Valley, offers a weekend of artistic exploration with 202 artists across 76 studios on May 18-19. This event showcases the region’s rich artistic heritage, providing access to artists’ studios and homes. West Chester University Professor Honored for Advocacy in Animal Protection
WEST CHESTER — Cassandra Reyes, Associate Professor at West Chester University, received Legislative Citations from both the Pennsylvania State House and Senate for her significant contributions to animal protection and advocacy. Honored at the Capitol Building in Harrisburg during "Humane Lobby Day," Reyes is recognized for pioneering the first criminal justice college course on animal cruelty in the United States.
Discover Rare Birds at Nottingham Park with Local Audubon Societies
NOTTINGHAM — The Valley Forge Audubon Society and the West Chester Birding Club invite the public to a birding event at Nottingham Park on May 26. This early morning outing from 8:00 to 10:00 am will introduce participants to the unique bird species of the park, located in southern Chester County. The event is open to all, regardless of birding experience, and will feature a gentle 1-2 mile walk. For more info click here
New Leadership and Security Initiatives Launched by Chester County Sheriff
WEST CHESTER — The Chester County Sheriff’s Office has initiated a series of security enhancements and personnel promotions to improve public safety across county facilities. The announcement includes the promotion of six staff members and the expansion of the security team with additional officers and new K-9 units. The promotions were as follow:
Corporal Daniel Clifton promoted to Sergeant
Corporal Martin Lawson promoted to Sergeant
Corporal Robert Burkley promoted to Sergeant
Deputy Deborah Gibney promoted to Corporal
Deputy Deborah Scavello promoted to Corporal
Deputy Kevin Griffin promoted to Corporal
These measures, led by Sheriff Kevin Dykes, aim to foster a safer community and a more robust law enforcement team.
Phoenixville’s Dogwood Festival Returns with New Attractions and Historic Parade
PHOENIXVILLE — The annual Dogwood Festival returns to Phoenixville’s Reeves Park from May 15-18, featuring carnival rides, a variety of vendors, and the traditional Dogwood Parade. This year, the parade celebrates significant anniversaries for the Phoenixville Fire Department and the Borough itself.
