WEST CHESTER — Rob Newman, a 73-year-old volunteer pilot for Angel Flight East, was honored as Pilot of the Year for his dedication to flying patients in need of urgent medical care. Operating from Brandywine Airport in West Chester, PA, Newman has completed 47 missions since 2018, helping to relieve the financial and emotional stress on families during medical emergencies. His efforts are part of a broader initiative by Angel Flight East, which conducted over 1,000 flights last year, to provide critical transportation services to vulnerable patients.

LOWER MERION TWP — Law enforcement in Lower Merion Township is investigating a string of burglaries targeting high-end homes along the Main Line, believed to be the work of a South American theft group. The burglars, specializing in luxury items, have hit four residences since late March. They employ a fast, calculated approach, entering homes from less secure rear points and quickly disabling security features. The investigation involves local police and the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.

This decision follows extensive stakeholder discussions due to ongoing ecological and water quality issues exacerbated by Hurricane Ida. The relocated species, including notable largemouth bass, will now inhabit Dowlin Forge Park Pond. Plans are underway to convert the current pond area into a sustainable green space, with community involvement in future design and planning stages.
