Chester County Gears Up for Nation's 250th Anniversary with CC250 Planning Summit
WEST CHESTER β In anticipation of the nation's 250th anniversary, CC250, a grassroots initiative in Chester County, will convene a planning summit at Thornbury Farm. Scheduled for June 7, the event seeks to engage local legislators and attendees in crafting meaningful experiences to honor the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026. Discussions will revolve around Chester County's heritage themes, citizen engagement in safeguarding independence, and ideas for commemorating the anniversary. The summit will culminate with a tour of Thornbury Farm, underscoring its historical significance from the Battle of Brandywine to its ties with the Underground Railroad. Michelle Kichline Esq., Chair of CC250, expresses optimism about the summit's potential to galvanize efforts in celebrating historic achievements and fostering civic engagement.
Coatesville First Fridays Return: A Celebration of Community and Culture

Organized by the Coatesville 2nd Century Alliance in collaboration with City Hall, these festivities aim to stimulate economic growth and cultivate a vibrant sense of community engagement. Each month, residents and visitors can explore downtown Coatesville's historic streets, where local shops, vendors, and restaurants will offer a diverse range of experiences tailored to the month's theme. From celebrating Cinco de Mayo and Juneteenth to patriotic Independence Day festivities and a lively carnival atmosphere in August, First Fridays cater to a variety of interests and ages. Amber Little-Turner, Executive Director of the 2nd Century Alliance, extends a warm invitation to all, encouraging everyone to experience the magic of Downtown Coatesville as it comes alive with energy and excitement each month.
Chester County Intermediate Unit Launches Re-Entry Program for Manufacturing Skills
DOWNINGTOWN β The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) is introducing its E3 Re-Entry Program at the Coatesville Public Library, aiming to empower individuals with entry-level manufacturing skills and facilitate their entry into the industry. Scheduled from April 22 to May 24, the program offers a comprehensive curriculum covering Manufacturing Training, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Job Readiness Skills, along with the opportunity to network at a Job Fair. With sessions held from Monday to Friday, applicants must go through CCIU to secure a place in the program.
