Widow Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit Against Neighbor's Family Following Fatal Shooting

WEST CHESTER β€” Jill Jennings has taken legal action against the family of Clayton Carter III, the perpetrator of the fatal shooting in West Chester. The lawsuit, filed in Common Pleas Court, delves into the alleged negligence exhibited by Carter's wife and father-in-law, Shannon Carter and William Magill, in addition to Carter himself.

The lawsuit contends that Carter had exhibited concerning behavior for an extended period leading up to the tragic incident, yet his family failed to intervene or alert authorities to the potential danger he posed. Furthermore, it is asserted that Carter had access to a cache of weapons within his residence, a fact concealed from both law enforcement and neighbors, heightening the risk of harm to those in his vicinity.

Local Band Sues Grammy-Winning Singer Over Trademark Dispute

CHADDS FORD β€” Local band, Jellyroll, launched a lawsuit against Grammy-winning country singer Jelly Roll, alleging trademark infringement. The crux of the dispute lies in the shared use of the name "Jelly Roll," with the band asserting its rights to the moniker it has held since the 1980s, long before the emergence of the now-prominent singer.

Based in Chadds Ford, Delaware County, the Jellyroll band has established itself as a fixture in the local music scene, with a legacy spanning decades of performances and community engagement. However, the band's attorneys, representing member Kurt Titchenell, contend that the singer's adoption of the same name has led to confusion among fans and adversely affected the band's online visibility.

The lawsuit demands that the singer, Jason Bradley DeFord, refrain from using "Jelly Roll" as his stage name, following unsuccessful attempts at mediation through cease and desist letters. As the legal proceedings unfold, DeFord faces a 30-day deadline to respond.
