DOWNINGTOWN — Downingtown Area School District celebrates a significant milestone as two students, David Densmore and Rodger Grant, prepare to graduate with associate degrees alongside their high school diplomas. Through the district's partnership with Delaware County Community College, students can pursue an associate’s degree in liberal arts or engineering while fulfilling their high school requirements. David and Rodger's accelerated completion of their liberal arts degrees in just two years highlights the efficacy of the program. Dr. Troy Podell, curriculum supervisor, praises the initiative for its role in providing valuable academic opportunities amidst the challenges of rising college costs. Additionally, DASD offers dual-enrollment options with prestigious institutions like Immaculata University, the University of Pittsburgh, and West Chester University, further enriching students' educational journeys.
Verdict Reached: Two Men Convicted in Kennett Square Bank Robbery Case
WEST CHESTER — Following a three-year legal process, Ivin William Cornelious and Jovone Larome Gordon were convicted of robbery, theft, and conspiracy in connection with a bank robbery in Kennett Square. The jury's decision, delivered after deliberation, underscores the culmination of a case marked by circumstantial evidence linking the defendants to the crime scene. Deputy District Attorney Kate Wright and Assistant District Attorney Sara Johnson led the prosecution, meticulously presenting a case built on investigative techniques and evidence, including DNA, fingerprints, cell phone records, and video surveillance. The conviction carries second-degree felony charges, with the defendants currently held in Chester County Prison awaiting sentencing.

Join Sustainable Saturdays: Township Residents Explore Green Living Solutions
WEST PIKELAND TWP — Sustainable Saturdays, organized by the Environmental Advisory Council, offers township residents an opportunity to delve into sustainable living practices. From April through September 2024, residents can attend speaker series at the township building and the Chester Springs Library to gain insights into various sustainable home systems. Topics include energy efficiency approaches, Geothermal Heat Pump Systems, Rain Gardens and Native Plantings, and solar and battery backup systems. Additionally, residents can visit the homes of West Pikeland Township residents for firsthand demonstrations of these sustainable systems.
