WEST CHESTER — Fairman's Skate Shop, an iconic hub of West Chester's skateboarding community, has made the announcement of its impending closure. Through a statement posted on its website, Fairman's conveyed the news that it will cease operations on April 30th, 2024, marking the end of an era for both the shop and the local skateboarding culture it has long represented.

The website further advises patrons to make use of any remaining gift cards before April 22nd, 2024, as the shop prepares to conclude its chapter in the West Chester community.

Nighttime Bridge Demolition Expected to Disrupt Traffic on Rt 401

WEST PIKELAND TWP — The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission persists in its infrastructure enhancement endeavors by undertaking bridge demolition on Route 401 in West Pikeland Township, Chester County. Scheduled for Monday, April 15, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, the operation will entail lane closures and flagging operations on Route 401, between Newcomen Road and 7 Oaks Road. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and expect possible delays due to traffic slowdowns near the work zone.

Briglia's journey, which began with a career in finance and accounting, took a transformative turn when she delved into the nonprofit sector as a volunteer with Community Accountants.

Over the years, Briglia's passion for arts administration led her to serve as board president of the Philadelphia-based Clay Studio, laying the foundation for her subsequent tenure at the Chester County Community Foundation (CCCF). During her more than two decades at CCCF, Briglia's expertise as a philanthropic advisor proved instrumental in guiding individuals, families, and local businesses toward impactful giving.

Briglia's approach to "intentional philanthropy" empowered donors to align their charitable objectives with their values, fostering a culture of strategic giving within the community. Since retiring from CCCF, she has continued her philanthropic endeavors as an independent advisor, notably assisting the Newlin Foundation in Coatesville and shaping the lives of "Newlin scholars" through mentorship and educational support.

Beyond her professional achievements, Briglia's commitment to education and community development is evident in her extensive volunteer work. From chairing Bishop Shanahan High School's Board of Directors to teaching courses on intentional philanthropy at the University of Delaware, she remains steadfast in her mission to enrich lives and strengthen communities.

Giant Co.'s Feeding School Kids Initiative Raises Over $1.5 Million to Combat Hunger in Local Communities

CARLISLE — Giant Co.'s annual Feeding School Kids initiative has achieved significant success, raising over $1.5 million to combat hunger in local public school districts. This collaborative effort between Giant Co. and its customers aims to address food insecurity and support communities across the region.

From January 1 to March 31, customers at Giant, Martin’s, and Giant Heirloom Market stores were invited to contribute to the initiative by rounding up their grocery purchases or converting Choice points into donations for their local public school district's food programs. The company also made a substantial contribution of $100,000 to bolster the fundraising efforts.

Among the top 15 donation recipients were two schools from the tri-county region: West Chester Area School District in Exton and North Penn School District in Lansdale. Additionally, several Pennsylvania districts, including The School District of Philadelphia, Central Bucks School District, and Bethlehem Area School District, were among the beneficiaries.
