Rescue of Roo: Kitten's Ordeal Leads to Mass Animal Rescue

COATESVILLE โ€” In Coatesville, a month-old kitten, named Roo, was discovered wrapped in duct tape with a severely injured leg by Animal Protective Services Officers during a response to a stray dog report. Following Roo's rescue, officers uncovered a distressing scene, rescuing a total of 38 animals from the residence. Unfortunately, one kitten was found deceased, while others exhibited signs of neglect and suffering. Roo underwent urgent surgery to amputate her leg, ultimately saving her life. A suspect has been charged with felony aggravated cruelty, with further charges pending for the other animals involved. This incident highlights the significance of ongoing efforts to combat animal neglect and cruelty.

Downingtown Strong: New Initiative Aims to Bolster Disaster Relief Efforts

Every spring the Mississippi River floods, but the downtown area of Davenport Iowa refuses to build a levee system to hold the waters back. It would block the river view. Some years the waters come several blocks up the banks and flood out local businesses.

DOWNINGTOWN โ€” In response to the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, Downingtown Strong, a non-profit organization, has emerged to provide comprehensive disaster relief services to the community. Led by dedicated local volunteers, the organization offers a range of support services, including preparedness initiatives, volunteer coordination, and emotional/spiritual support, with a focus on aiding individuals and families affected by natural disasters or emergencies in the Downingtown area. Operating as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Downingtown Strong aims to establish partnerships and community-based initiatives to enhance the community's resilience and response capabilities for future disasters. Mayor Phil Dague underscores the importance of proactive planning and collective action in preparing for inevitable disasters, urging community members to engage with Downingtown Strong and contribute to its mission.

Suspect Arrested in East Goshen Township for Vehicle Thefts

WEST CHESTER โ€” The Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department responded to a call regarding suspicious activity at Waterview Apartments in East Goshen Township on March 21, 2024, at 4:55 AM. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Louis Edwards, a 29-year-old Philadelphia resident, on charges related to theft from motor vehicles. Edwards is currently facing multiple counts, including theft from a motor vehicle and loitering and prowling at nighttime.
