Chester County Furniture Store Owners Face New Charges in Alleged Theft Case
The owners of Chester County furniture store M. Kaplan Interiors, Mathew and Margaret Kaplan, are facing new charges related to alleged theft from a customer. The defense attorney has requested a trial continuation until March, citing a lack of case materials from previous prosecutors. Customers in East Whiteland Township claim to have ordered expensive furniture from the store but never received the items. The Kaplans are charged with deceptive business practices, theft, and receiving stolen property. The total reported losses from at least 15 victims amount to $232,683. The family-owned business, operating since 1922, is accused of widespread consumer fraud.
