Election Certification Postponed

From www.Chesco.org:

β€œDue to a ruling from the U.S. District Court of the Western District of Pennsylvania, which now allows for canvass and tabulation of mail-in ballots with missing or incorrect dates, Chester County will delay the certification of the 2023 General Election.

The canvass and tabulation of up to 266 Chester County mail-in ballots that have missing or incorrectly dated envelopes will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, November 27, at the Chester County Voter Services Central Scan Location, 5th Floor, 313 W. Market Street, West Chester, PA.

After all eligible ballots have been counted, the results will be posted for the five-day waiting period, per Pennsylvania Election Code. Chester County will then certify the 2023 General Election at a time and date that will be announced in advance.”

Contentious Board Meeting in West Whiteland Over Proposed Property Tax Doubling

West Whiteland residents express concerns at a board meeting about the proposed 2024 budget, which could double township property taxes. The contentious discussion highlighted residents' worries about the financial impact, while officials defended the increase, citing necessary adjustments after more than 30 years without a property tax hike. The proposed budget includes increases for various services, prompting residents to suggest alternative ways to share the financial burden.

Community Commitment: Nilfisk, Inc. Team Volunteers to Restore Springton Manor Farm

Staff members from Nilfisk, Inc.'s Morgantown location demonstrated their commitment to community and environmental well-being by volunteering at Springton Manor Farm last month. The team engaged in a hands-on effort to clear areas of weeds and invasive plants, laying the groundwork for the subsequent replanting of native trees and shrubs. This initiative aligns with broader environmental stewardship goals, contributing to the restoration and preservation of the local ecosystem.

Uwchlan Township Thanks Dedicated Volunteers for Successful Weekend Cleanup

Over the weekend, a dedicated team of eight volunteers collaborated to address local environmental concerns, focusing their efforts on cleaning litter from catch basins in the area. Their collective initiative resulted in the collection of 22 bags of trash, including an unexpected findβ€”discarded road signs, among which was an amusingly placed "Litter Crews Ahead" sign. Officer Steve Scott from the Uwchlan Township Police Department played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of all participants during the cleanup event.
