In a dramatic District 1 Class 6A semifinal showdown, Downingtown West emerged victorious with a 17-14 win over Downingtown East. The Whippets, seeded sixth, orchestrated a strategic 35-yard drive in the closing moments of the fourth quarter, culminating in quarterback Quinn Henicle's decisive four-yard run around the right side. This victory avenged West's regular-season loss to the Cougars and marked their advancement to the championship game against Central Bucks South. Henicle's exceptional performance, particularly in a critical fourth-and-22 play, and the resolute defense that contained East's Ayden Harris were pivotal in the triumph. Downingtown West's Head Coach, Mike Milano, praised his team's resilience and determination, setting the stage for a potential third district title.
Henicle scores! Dtown West leads 17-14 with 16 seconds left. First rushing TD East has allowed all season.
