Bianca Roberson’s Mother Awarded Over $3.4 Million in Wrongful Death Lawsuit

A West Chester area teenager's mother has been awarded over $3.4 million in a wrongful death lawsuit against her daughter's killer, David Desper, who was sentenced to 20-40 years in prison for the road rage incident. The judgment includes $500,000 for the wrongful death of the teenager, Bianca Nikol Roberson, and $2,985,840 for the anticipated lost income over her lifetime. Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey Sommer considered the estimated income ranging from $2.9 million to $3.8 million, choosing the lower amount for prudence. Although this verdict holds symbolic significance, it may not have practical implications since Desper lacks substantial assets. The attorney for the victim's estate expressed the importance of justice for Bianca while acknowledging the challenges of collecting the award, leaving it for future consideration. The lawsuit was filed in 2019 by Bianca's parents, and a judgment of liability was entered against Desper earlier this year based on his criminal conviction. The case highlights the enduring pain experienced by the victim's family due to the tragic loss, and various testimonies emphasize the impact of the incident on their lives. The court proceedings revolved around the theme "it might have been," encapsulating the profound sense of loss and the unfulfilled potential of Bianca's life.
