Annual Charity Event "Blue Beards for Charity" Launches in Chester County

The Westtown-East Goshen Police Association in Chester County is starting its annual charity event, "Blue Beards for Charity." This initiative, led by local police officers, aims to support four local charities: Unite for Her, The Sambuco Childrenโ€™s Education Fund, A Childโ€™s Light, and the Chester County Crime Victims Center. During October, November, and December, officers will grow facial hair and wear pink badges to raise awareness and funds for these causes. Last year, the campaign raised over $60,000, and this year's event aims to surpass that amount with increased participation. Donations are tax-deductible, and individuals, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to get involved.

Caln Township Police Launch Community Camera Program for Enhanced Community Safety

Oversight

The Caln Township Police Department has initiated the Community Camera Program to enhance community safety. This voluntary program encourages residents and business owners to register their video surveillance system locations with the police department. By doing so, participants allow law enforcement to identify nearby cameras during criminal investigations. Registration is free, can be canceled at any time, and grants no remote access to cameras. Participants will only be contacted if an incident occurs near their registered cameras, and information shared will remain confidential unless legally required otherwise. Questions and registrations can be directed to Administrative Assistant Tracey Laws at [email protected] or 610-383-1821 during weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Register at https://www.calntownship.org/security-camera-registration.html

PennDOT Secures $603K Grant for Electric Vehicle Charging Station in Chester County

PennDOT has been awarded a $603,294 grant for an electric vehicle (EV) charging station at the PA Turnpike service plaza in West Brandywine, Chester County. The grant is part of Pennsylvania's first round of funding from the federal National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program, aimed at expanding EV charging access. PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll emphasized the grant's role in bolstering the state's EV charging network and creating jobs. Seven projects across six counties are set to improve EV charging reliability, with a nearly $3.9 million federal investment as part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law's funding for EV charging infrastructure.
