East Coventry Considers 155-Unit Housing Project with Traffic Light and Open Space

Green. Camera. Lights.

East Coventry is considering a housing project featuring 155 single-family homes on a 100-acre piece of land at the intersection of Route 724 and Frick's Lock Road and Sanatoga Road. The "Villages at Frick's Lock" project, proposed by Artisan Development Group, aims to cluster the homes closely together to preserve nearly 60 acres of open space. It also requires realigning Frick's Lock Road and installing a new traffic light. The project is designed to align with the state's "Growing Greener" initiative by packing houses closer together while preserving open space. It is currently in the preliminary approval stage and complies with existing zoning regulations. Concerns raised by regional planners include parking availability, emergency vehicle access, and connectivity to the Schuylkill River Trail, which will be addressed in a review letter sent to East Coventry Township planners.

Bridge Replacement Project to Close Eastbound Boot Road for 20 Months in East Caln Township

A bridge replacement project is set to commence in East Caln Township, involving the replacement of the existing Boot Road bridge over the Amtrak line. The initiative includes various components such as road reconstruction, guide rail and drainage enhancements, and intersection improvements at Boot Road and Quarry Road. The project aims to replace the bridge while maintaining its alignment and slightly raising the profile grade for better clearance over Amtrak facilities. The existing three-span, 193-foot structure will be replaced by a 105-foot single span, with the width matching the current 38 feet. Intersection improvements involve adding left-turn lanes, replacing traffic signal equipment, and minor drainage enhancements. Eastbound Boot Road traffic will be detoured for approximately 20 months during construction, while westbound traffic will be unaffected.
