DOWNINGTOWN, PA — The Downingtown Area School District has named new principals at three schools ahead of the 2026-27 school year. Dr. Matthew Barr, a 23-year veteran of the district who most recently led Marsh Creek Sixth Grade Center, is moving up to lead Downingtown High School East. Taking his place at Marsh Creek is Lauren Fiske, who has worked in the district since 2011, first as a gifted education teacher and more recently as Marsh Creek's assistant principal.

Beaver Creek Elementary School, meanwhile, welcomes an outside hire in Kelly Harrison, who joins DASD from the Avon Grove School District, where she most recently served as principal of Penn London Elementary School. Harrison is also a DASD parent and resident. Superintendent Dr. Robert O'Donnell said all three bring strong instructional leadership to their new positions, highlighting both the continuity represented by Barr and Fiske's internal advancement and the fresh perspective Harrison brings from outside the district.

COATESVILLE, PA — Pennsylvania State Police have made arrests in connection with a series of dangerous incidents on the US-30 Bypass in Valley Township, where heavy debris including rocks and logs was thrown onto the highway on the evenings of August 19 and 21. A 14-year-old and an 11-year-old are accused of deliberately hurling the objects from the roadside onto moving traffic, damaging at least 17 vehicles and injuring two vehicle occupants, though the injuries were not life-threatening.

Both juveniles face several charges, including aggravated assault, propulsion of missiles into an occupied vehicle, propulsion of missiles into or onto a roadway, and recklessly endangering another person. Investigators believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward and are asking any drivers who experienced vehicle damage in the area during that time to contact Trooper Cole Zapf at the PSP Embreeville Station.

EXTON, PA — Two people were hospitalized following a serious multi-vehicle crash in Chester County on Friday afternoon. The collision, which involved two motorcycles and a pickup truck, happened around 2:50 p.m. in the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway in West Whiteland Township. Police, local firefighters, and Good Fellowship EMS responded to the scene, and two individuals were transported by ambulance to the Paoli Memorial Hospital Trauma Center for treatment.

Their conditions have not yet been made public, and police have not disclosed which vehicles the injured parties were riding in. The West Whiteland Township Police Department says the investigation into the crash remains active.
