Housing Partnership Launches Annual Winter Fuel Assistance Program

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — The Housing Partnership of Chester County is accepting applications for winter heating assistance. Homeowners earning 30 percent or less of the county's median income can receive one-time grants of up to $500, paid directly to their fuel provider. Single-person households can earn up to $25,100, while families of four can earn up to $35,800. The program prioritizes applicants 70 and older but considers all eligible homeowners. Applications are available on the Housing Partnership's website.
West Whiteland Police Seek Public's Help in Kohl's Theft Case

WEST WHITELAND TWP — West Whiteland police are seeking help identifying a suspect in a retail theft at the Kohl's store in Exton. The department has released a photograph of the individual believed to be involved in the incident at the West Lincoln Highway location. Authorities have not provided details about what was stolen or when the theft occurred. Anyone with information is asked to contact Patrolman Kyle O'Brien at the West Whiteland Police Department or on Crimewatch PA
Firefighters Free Dog Trapped in Caln Township Storm Drain

CALN TWP — mergency crews in Caln Township conducted an unusual rescue operation Saturday evening when they freed a dog that had become trapped inside a storm drain pipe. Firefighters from Caln Township Fire Company and Thorndale Fire Company responded to the call and discovered the frightened animal lodged deep within the drainage system.
The rescue required patience and careful coordination as crews worked to encourage the nervous dog toward the pipe's opening without causing additional stress or injury. Using teamwork and a gentle approach, firefighters successfully guided the animal to safety.
The dog was unharmed in the ordeal and was reunited with its owners at the scene. Officials did not provide details about how the animal became trapped or how long it had been stuck before emergency services were contacted.
Historian Bruce Mowday to Discuss Pivotal 1777 Battle in Chester Springs

CHESTER SPRINGS, PA — Historian Bruce E. Mowday will discuss the Battle of Brandywine's impact on American independence during a lecture Saturday at the Mill at Anselma in Chester Springs. The 1 p.m. talk will examine the September 1777 battle where British forces nearly captured George Washington. Though the Continental Army suffered defeat, their resilience became a symbol of determination during the Revolution. Mowday, who has written over 25 books and serves on Chester County's 250th anniversary committee, will connect local history to the broader fight for freedom.
