Faith-Based West Chester Tattoo Artist Sets New World Record With 76-Hour Session

WEST CHESTER, PA — A tattoo shop in West Chester has claimed a new Guinness World Record after owner Brannan Clift tattooed a single client, Christian Eshbaugh of South Sacramento, California, for 76 consecutive hours — from noon on a Tuesday to 4 p.m. the following Friday. The session, held at Liberty Bell Tattoo & Piercing, produced an extensive collection of biblical imagery, including depictions of David and Goliath, Jesus carrying the cross, and Daniel in the lion's den, alongside artwork commemorating America's 250th anniversary. The 76-hour duration was chosen to reference the 1776 reading of the Declaration of Independence.

Clift, a 26-year veteran of the industry, had previously held the record at 52 hours before it was broken by an Italian team, prompting his attempt to reclaim the title. He worked entirely in black and gray ink, citing its durability and reduced impact on the skin, and built a custom ergonomic chair specifically to endure the physical toll of the session — a design he plans to bring to market later this year. Rev. Dr. Glenn Dietz, a former firefighter and West Chester resident, served as an official witness, staying awake overnight to observe the attempt. Both Clift and Eshbaugh described the achievement as tied closely to their faith, and Clift said he was glad to see the world record return to the United States during the same month the country celebrated its 250th anniversary.

Downingtown Strong Launches Block Captain Program to Boost Disaster Readiness

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Downingtown Strong, an all-volunteer nonprofit focused on helping Downingtown Borough residents impacted by natural disasters or emergency hardship, is rolling out a new Block Captain Program designed to build a grassroots network of neighbors supporting one another during a crisis. Under the program, a volunteer from each block — especially those in flood-prone parts of town — will act as a go-between, sharing information from Downingtown Strong about storm preparedness and available resources with their neighbors before, during and after an emergency. The organization says the initiative is meant to ensure that the borough's most vulnerable residents stay informed and that their needs are identified and addressed quickly when disaster strikes.

To launch the program, Downingtown Strong is hosting a Block Captain Training session on Saturday, August 22, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, located at 100 W. Uwchlan Avenue in Downingtown. The training will also be offered virtually via Zoom for those who cannot attend in person, with the meeting link accessible through a QR code or the organization's website. All residents are welcome to attend, whether or not they plan to serve as a Block Captain.
