Expect Flaggers on Route 322 as Trestle Bridge Inspections Get Underway

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — East Caln Township has announced that the Trestle Bridge over Route 322 will be inspected next week, from Monday, Oct. 12, through Friday, Oct. 16. The bridge crosses the highway in East Caln and West Bradford Townships.

Flaggers will be on site to help with traffic control during the work. The township said the inspections are not a cause for alarm, though drivers passing through should expect crews in the area and possible slowdowns.

North Reeds Road Bridge to Close for Emergency Repairs

UPPER UWCHLAN TWP — The County will close County Bridge 134, which carries North Reeds Road over the East Branch Brandywine Creek, beginning Monday, Oct. 12. The emergency repairs are expected to take about three weeks, with a detour in place.

The bridge is well beyond its expected service life and was last repaired in July. Inspections since then found more deterioration, and the county said the aging structure is especially sensitive to vehicles over its posted 3-ton limit.

The work is intended to keep the bridge safe until it is replaced, which is expected to begin in late 2028 or early 2029. The 3-ton limit will stay in effect after the repairs.
