Water Main Repairs to Shut Down Marshallton Thorndale Road This Week

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — A weekday closure of Marshallton Thorndale Road between Strasburg Road and Shadyside Road will begin Monday as Aqua Pennsylvania begins water main repairs. The closure will occur daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with passenger vehicles and trucks directed to separate detours. Cars will be rerouted along Strasburg Road, Sugars Bridge Road, Downingtown Pike, and Shadyside Road, while trucks will follow longer paths through Buck Run Road, Youngsburg Road, Route 82, and US 30.

Coffee with a Cop Day Brings Caln Police and Firefighters Together with Community

CALN TWP — To mark National Coffee with a Cop Day, Caln Township’s police officers and firefighters will gather for a community meet-and-greet on Wednesday, October 1, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Thorndale GIANT. The event is designed to foster informal, one-on-one conversations between residents and local first responders. Coffee and pastries will be available, courtesy of GIANT. Attendees are encouraged to stop by, ask questions, and engage with the public safety teams serving their community.

West Pikeland Appoints New Township Secretary with Strong Community Roots

WEST PIKELAND TWP — The West Pikeland Township Board of Supervisors has appointed Jennifer Wachsmuth as the new Township Secretary, a position that serves as a key administrative bridge between the township government and the community. Wachsmuth, a resident of West Pikeland for 30 years, has been active in local civic life through her work on the Parks and Recreation Committee. She also brings professional experience in office management and public service communication.

Local Author Matt Zaun Publishes Strategic Storytelling Guide for Leaders

Matt Zaun, a Downingtown-based author and story strategist, has released The StoryBank: Strategic Storytelling That Works, a new book that explores how leaders can use storytelling to influence, inspire, and drive organizational change.

Rooted in Zaun’s experience consulting with executives and public figures, the book outlines how well-timed narratives can enhance sales, shape internal culture, and elevate public messaging. Zaun also reflects on his personal evolution as a communicator, from struggling speaker to keynote presenter.

The book introduces the “StoryBank Method,” a framework designed to help leaders build and manage a personal archive of strategic stories. Chapters focus on practical applications across marketing, leadership communication, and team development.
