Devereux Children's Center Ineligible for Tobacco Settlement Funds, Audit Finds

VILLANOVA, PA β Pennsylvania Auditor General Timothy L. DeFoor has released an audit concluding that the Devereux Children's Behavioral Health Center in Chester County is ineligible for tobacco settlement reimbursements under one of the state's two qualifying methods. The facility reported no extraordinary expense claims β high-cost cases involving uninsured patients β for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, disqualifying it from that pathway for the 2027 payment year.
Auditors also verified Devereux's reported inpatient and Medical Assistance day counts, finding them consistent with supporting documentation. The tobacco settlement program, rooted in the 1998 Master Settlement Agreement with tobacco companies, directs a portion of state funds to hospitals that absorb the cost of treating uninsured patients. The Department of Human Services will now review whether Devereux qualifies under the second eligibility pathway, which relies on a broader uncompensated care formula. Facilities still have the option to submit additional claims ahead of the state's deadline.
Phoenixville Resident Spent Three Months in Isolation for a Shot at Realty TV Show

PHOENIXVILLE, PA β Nancy Hornback, a Phoenixville resident, has emerged from a 90-day stretch of total isolation in upstate New York, where she lived alongside four other contestants without access to phones, the internet, social media or news of any kind. The sequestration was undertaken in preparation for Greg Gutfeld's What Did I Miss?, a new Fox Nation game show that tests whether returning contestants can separate real news stories from invented ones.
The show will focus on the period from Dec. 8 to Feb. 14, a stretch marked by intensifying protests over federal immigration enforcement, the release of additional Epstein-related records, and the rising tensions that preceded the Iran war. Ms. Hornback's fellow contestants traveled from Florida, Texas and northern Pennsylvania for the project. Before entering isolation, Ms. Hornback publicly acknowledged she would be cut off from her husband, daughter, extended family, friends and dog for the duration.
The three-episode series will air April 27, May 4 and May 11, with one contestant walking away with a $50,000 prize.
Caln Township Proposes New Zoning Ordinance, Map and Village Overlay District

CALN TWP β The Caln Township Board of Commissioners is preparing to consider a comprehensive overhaul of the township's zoning code at a public hearing scheduled for Thursday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m. at the Caln Township Municipal Building. If adopted, the new Caln Township Zoning Ordinance of 2026 would fully replace the 2005 ordinance and establish a new zoning map in line with the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code.
The proposed ordinance spans thirteen articles and restructures land-use rules across thirteen zoning districts. It expands natural resource protections covering waterways, wetlands, steep slopes, woodlands, carbonate geology and floodplains, and introduces a new Mixed-Use Village Overlay District with its own design standards, open space requirements and master plan expectations. Additional sections address specific uses, parking and loading, signs, nonconformities, enforcement and noise.
See the draft of the proposed ordinance here.
Uwchlan to Host Spring Dumpster Day for Bulk Items and Electronics

UWCHLAN TWP β Uwchlan residents will have an opportunity to dispose of bulk household goods and electronic waste on Saturday, May 9, during a Dumpster Day event held in partnership with Whitetail Disposal. The drop-off will take place along Sheree Boulevard from 8 a.m. to noon and is structured as a drive-up event, with staff unloading items while residents remain in their vehicles.
Participation is limited to residents enrolled in the municipal trash service, and proof of address will be required on site. Pre-registration is not necessary. Accepted items include televisions, computers and smaller electronic devices, as well as bulky household goods. Items containing freon and hazardous waste will not be accepted.
