Do red cars cost more to insure?

You may have heard the myth that red cars cost more to insure, often with varying reasons why. The truth is, the color of your car has nothing to do with your premium. Insurance companies are more interested in your vehicle’s make, model, age, safety features, and your driving history. What’s not a myth, though — is that people really can save a ton of money by switching insurers. Check out Money’s car insurance tool to see if you could, too.

Dazzling Duffers Contribute to E. Brandywine All Abilities Playground

EAST BRANDYWINE TWP — East Brandywine Township took another step forward in its plans to build “United We Play,” an inclusive playground designed for children of all abilities. During a recent Parks and Recreation Board meeting, the Dazzling Duffers Golf League presented a $1,000 donation to support the project. The league raised the funds at their year-end outing through raffle ticket sales and a 50/50 drawing. The township continues to seek support from local businesses and organizations as planning for the playground moves ahead.

West Chester Chamber Appoints Laurie Ryan as New President

WEST CHESTER, PA — The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce has selected Laurie Ryan as its new President, effective November 3. Ryan, a West Chester resident, has led the Exton Region Chamber of Commerce since 2015, growing its membership significantly during her tenure. She also brings private sector experience, with prior leadership roles at Kellogg’s, Buca di Beppo, and Wendell August Forge. Her appointment follows the departure of Katie Walker, who accepted a new role at the Chester County Food Bank. In the interim, Carly McFadden and Lisa Leone have led the Chamber’s operations. The organization now represents nearly 600 businesses and nonprofits across West Chester and surrounding communities.

Two New Ways for Local Businesses to Shine in the Downingtown Local Pulse

Downingtown is built on the strength of its small businesses — the shops, restaurants, services, and makers that give our community its unique character. Now, there are two new ways for those businesses to get in front of thousands of engaged local readers through the Downingtown Local Pulse.

We’re introducing two promotional programs designed to give businesses year-round visibility and meaningful connections with our audience:

1. Partner Program

This package gives businesses a featured listing in our Local Business Directory, making it easy for residents to find and support you. Partners also receive:

  • A monthly Business Spotlight article that tells your story.

  • A pinned article on our website for maximum visibility.

  • Exposure to our massive Facebook audience, with each feature shared across our highly engaged social channels.

2. Patron Program

For businesses ready to take their visibility to the next level, the Patron Program includes everything in the Partner Program plus:

  • A top-level ad placement one issue a month, ensuring your brand stays front and center.

Both programs are built to keep your business in the local conversation month after month — not just as an ad, but as a valued part of the community’s story.

Whether you’re a family-run shop, a growing startup, or a well-established local favorite, these programs offer an affordable way to boost your visibility while supporting the Downingtown Local Pulse’s mission to celebrate the people and businesses that make our town special.
