WEST CHESTER, PA — After a four-day trial before Judge Bret Binder, a Chester County jury found Coatesville residents Sincere Brown-Trowery and Tyriq Parker, both 26, guilty of attempted murder, conspiracy, and related charges. The case stemmed from a February 2022 shooting in which the two men allegedly drove to a victim's home on the 500 block of Walnut Street, fired multiple rounds into his car as he took shelter inside, and fled in a green BMW. The victim was unharmed and called police, launching an investigation by Coatesville City police, with support from Chester County Detectives, that led to both men's identification and arrest. Chief Deputy District Attorney Andrea Cardamone and Assistant District Attorney Jack Meehan prosecuted the case, and both defendants now await sentencing.

The conviction was one of several updates included in the District Attorney's Office's latest release. The office also thanked State Senator Carolyn Comitta for helping secure $50,000 in funding to bolster DNA investigative resources shared by the Chester County Detectives and the Coatesville Police Department. Comitta toured the Detectives' Crime Scene Forensics Lab, where staff demonstrated the process of collecting DNA at crime scenes and analyzing it through the county's Rapid DNA System before sending samples out for confirmation testing.

In addition, the office detailed its role supporting a much larger investigation by the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office, which resulted in charges against 12 individuals accused of illegally selling THC products through local convenience stores. The probe connected leads from across the state — including a Pennsylvania State Police traffic stop within Chester County — to unravel distribution networks supplying marijuana and other high-concentration THC products to retail shelves. As with any pending case, all those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

CHESTER SPRINGS, PA — The Mill at Anselma, a water-powered grist mill dating back to roughly 1747, will welcome visitors this Thursday, September 24, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. as part of Chester County's Town Tours and Village Walks series. Located at 1730 Conestoga Road in Chester Springs, the mill was once a cornerstone of local agriculture, serving farmers during an era when the region was known as the breadbasket of colonial America.

The guided tour will walk attendees through the mill's history, including the families who owned and ran it over the generations, while showcasing the mechanics of early milling technology. The program will also examine how gristmills like this one helped sustain local communities and played a role in supplying food during the Revolutionary War.

EAST BRANDYWINE TWP — The East Brandywine Historical Commission is rolling out a fall speaker series aimed at bringing local history to life for residents. The first installment, on October 18 at 3 p.m., features presenter Ellen Enslow discussing the origins of relations between the Lenape and European colonists in eastern Pennsylvania during the 1600s. The talk will explore how early cooperation around land use and self-determination shifted over time, culminating in the displacement of indigenous people as colonial settlement expanded in the early 1700s.

The series continues on November 15 at 3 p.m. with "Dark History of Chester County and Southeastern PA," presented by Jennifer L. Green. This second talk shifts focus to the region's more obscure history, touching on stories of crime, tragedy, and mystery that don't typically appear in mainstream accounts of the area's past.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The Chester County Solid Waste Authority, along with Casella Waste Systems, will host a battery take-back event this Saturday, September 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 7224 Division Highway in Narvon. Woodsy Owl will make an appearance, and residents can safely dispose of household and rechargeable lithium-ion batteries while learning tips to help prevent battery fires.
