DA's Office Team Rides 65 Miles to Support First Responder Families
WEST CHESTER, PA — The Chester County District Attorney's Office once again put together a team of riders to support law enforcement families in the Annual Ben to the Shore Bike Tour. The nine-person "Trial by Tires" squad included six office employees — Jack Meehan, Dana Moore, Grace Mannix, John Madden, Robert Markofski and Andrew Power — along with Phoenixville Police Officer Hunter Evans, who together tackled both the shorter 30-mile route and the longer 65-mile course on July 26.
The tour, now in its 39th year, is organized by the Families Behind the Badge Children's Foundation, a nonprofit focused on supporting first responders and their families throughout the community. The event draws thousands of participants annually and has become a fixture of regional fundraising efforts tied to public safety. The DA's Office expressed appreciation for everyone who rode, donated or came out to cheer the team on, and pointed interested community members to the foundation's website for more information on its mission.

Coatesville Man Sentenced in Child Exploitation Case
COATESVILLE, PA — A 40-year-old Coatesville man has been sentenced to prison following his guilty plea to four criminal counts stemming from his possession of illegal material involving children. Wendell Wesley entered the plea on June 6 and received a sentence of 11.5 to 23 months of incarceration, along with a period of probation and other court-mandated conditions.
The investigation dates back to April 2023, when Chester County detectives received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, forwarded through the Delaware County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. That tip alleged that someone had used a Gmail account to upload and share illegal content involving minors. Detectives obtained a search warrant, which allowed them to trace the activity to Wesley and ultimately build the case that led to his conviction.
Officials renewed their call for public vigilance in cases involving child safety, encouraging anyone with concerns to contact authorities. Reports can be made by calling 911 or by reaching out to Pennsylvania's Childline at 1-800-932-0313, a service that accepts anonymous reports.
East Caln Township Warns of Delays During August Road Work
EAST CALN TWP — East Caln Township has notified residents of upcoming roadwork along Bell Tavern Boulevard, where contractors will be carrying out repairs to the stormwater system from August 3 through August 7. During the project, flaggers will be stationed on-site to direct traffic through the affected area. Township officials are encouraging drivers who typically use the road to plan ahead, build extra time into their commutes, and pay close attention to posted signs and flagger directions throughout the work period.
Caln Township Offers Free Tickets to Reading Phils' Downingtown Night
CALN TWP — Caln Township announced that free tickets are available for residents who want to attend the Reading Phillies' annual "Downingtown Night" game, scheduled for Friday, August 14, at 7 p.m. The evening will wrap up with a fireworks show following the game. Those interested in attending can stop by the township building during normal business hours to claim their tickets before they run out. Township officials thanked the local sponsors whose support made the ticket giveaway possible.
