Cyberattack Hits Popular Facebook Group, Administrators Warn Members of Impostor Groups

WEST CHESTER, PA — All Things Chester County PA, one of the region's most prominent online community hubs, has been compromised in a cyberattack that has cut administrators off from the group's account. The group, which has grown to more than 106,000 members since launching in 2018, serves as a go-to space for local news, events, and community conversation across Chester County.

Group administrators confirmed the breach and said they are coordinating with Meta to regain control and restore the page. While that process unfolds, members are being cautioned not to click on links from unfamiliar posts within the group, as bad actors may attempt to exploit the situation.

Adding to the concern, several new Facebook groups have surfaced using the All Things Chester County name. Administrators have made clear that none of these pages are connected to the original group or its team, raising fears that some members could be misled into joining fraudulent communities.

West Chester Council and Mayor Clash Over How to Limit ICE Cooperation

WEST CHESTER, PA — West Chester's Borough Council is moving to formalize limits on local police cooperation with federal immigration authorities, voting unanimously to draft an ordinance that would give the council a direct say before the borough could participate in any 287(g) agreement with ICE.

The 287(g) program allows ICE to deputize local law enforcement officers to perform immigration functions. Council members backing the ordinance argued that codifying restrictions into law — rather than relying on mayoral policy — creates a binding, transparent, and durable safeguard that can't be quietly undone by future administrations.

Mayor Lillian DeBaptiste and Police Chief Josh Lee both pushed back, not on the goals of the ordinance, but on its necessity. DeBaptiste argued that a formal written policy from her office and the chief accomplishes the same end, and warned that a high-profile legislative process could inadvertently draw attention to the immigrant community members the borough is trying to protect. Lee maintained that directing police operations is the domain of the chief and the mayor, not the council.

Despite those objections, the council moved forward. A public hearing will be held before the council's next voting session on March 18 at 6:30 p.m.

The organization is offering scheduling flexibility, with both half-day and full-day roles available — an arrangement that could appeal to working artists, teachers with summer availability, or college students seeking a meaningful internship experience. Applications open now through the organization's website.

Chester County Woman Reunited With Late Husband's Family Diamond After It Traveled to Florida in a Neighbor's Shoe

What began as a puzzling loss became one of Chester County's more unlikely reunion stories. Cindy Ware, a resident of the Kendal Crosslands Community, had given up hope of recovering the diamond from her ring, a family piece inherited from her late husband's relatives. Months passed with no explanation for where it had gone.

The answer, as it happened, was Florida. The diamond had become lodged in the rubber sole of a water shoe belonging to Coleman, Ware's neighbor, before he left for a trip to Fort Lauderdale. He wore the shoes throughout his vacation — to the beach, to the pool — without any idea what he was carrying.

When he finally spotted the small stone in his shoe, Coleman took it to a local jeweler, who identified it as a genuine diamond with an older cut, likely from the 1950s or 60s. That evening, Coleman shared a photo of the diamond still sitting in his shoe on Facebook, more as a curiosity than anything else. A friend who saw the post recognized the stone almost immediately and connected Coleman back to Ware. The confirmation came on Valentine's Day. Hear the full story at NBC 10
