Bad news is good business. Not everyone buys it.

Every morning, financial news follows the same script. Headlines panic, coverage catastrophises, and somewhere inside the noise is the story that actually matters — the one that tells you where the opportunity sits, not just where the fear is pointing.

Most sources have stopped looking. The alarm is easier to sell.

The Daily Upside was created by Wall Street insiders for readers who crave real insight over recycled anxiety. Five minutes of global business and finance, before the noise sets the agenda — just the facts, context, and analysis your decisions need.

Join 1M readers — including managing directors and principals at some of Wall Street’s largest institutions — who trust The Daily Upside to filter through the chaos.

The upsides are always there. We’ll find them before breakfast.

Chester County Marks Foster Care Month Amid Caregiver Shortage

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County marked Foster Care Month with an official proclamation from the Board of Commissioners, recognizing the critical role foster and kinship families play in the lives of children whose home situations have become unstable or unsafe.

The ceremony brought together members of the county's Department of Children, Youth, and Families and kinship foster parent Darjanae Shockley, who accepted the proclamation on behalf of caregivers across the region.

Beyond the ceremony, officials emphasized that the need for foster families in Chester County remains significant and ongoing. The shortage is most pressing for older youth, sibling groups, and children with special needs — populations that are historically harder to place and that often face longer stays in the system without permanent or stable housing.

County leaders are calling on community members who may be interested in fostering to take the first step and explore what the process involves. Information is available through the Chester County Department of Children, Youth, and Families.

West Chester Police Seek Suspect in Early Morning Assault and Robbery

WEST CHESTER, PA — West Chester Borough police are appealing to the public for help after an aggravated assault and strongarm robbery in the early hours of May 22 left investigators without a confirmed identity for the suspect or several witnesses who were on the scene.

The incident unfolded at 2:38 a.m. on the 100 block of North Darlington Street, a residential stretch in the heart of the borough. Officers arrived in the vicinity about 40 minutes later after being called to the nearby 100 block of South High Street.

The suspect is described as a white male of college age with brown hair, between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches in height. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and black sweatpants. Police have released a photograph of the man and are hoping someone in the community can put a name to the image.

The West Chester Police Department is asking anyone with relevant information to contact Officer DeBaptiste at (610) 696-2700 and reference case number WC-26-14615.
