Chester County Commissioners Highlight Budget, Housing, and Election Priorities

THORNBURY, PA — At the Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry’s annual State of the County event on Feb. 18, county commissioners addressed pressing issues, including the recent ballot book error, rising housing costs, and the rapid growth of data centers. Josh Maxwell described the county as being in “transition,” noting that Chester County enacted a $778.6 million budget for 2026 without raising property taxes, in contrast to nearby counties.

Commissioners stressed election integrity and rebuilding public trust, responding to concerns raised by U.S. Senator Dave McCormick about voter eligibility. Housing affordability was a key focus, with officials advocating for attainable housing while balancing open space preservation. The event highlighted bipartisan collaboration and included recognition of local public servants, including James Logan and Becky Brain, for their contributions to the community. Montana Governor Greg Gianforte attended to support his family’s local business, emphasizing the county’s ongoing role as a hub for both civic and economic engagement.
