Chester County Passes Budget Without Tax Hike

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County approved a $778.6 million budget for 2026 without raising property taxes, making it the only Philadelphia suburb to avoid a tax increase. The decision required significant cuts, including elimination of 64 vacant positions, as officials navigated uncertainty around state and federal funding. Delaware County raised taxes by 19 percent, Bucks by 8 percent, and Montgomery by 4 percent. Chester County officials said the budget reflects fiscal discipline but warned next year may bring harder choices.
Warwick Park to Host Program on Wild Turkey Natural History

POTTSTOWN, PA — Warwick County Park is offering an educational program that explores one of Pennsylvania's most successful wildlife conservation stories: the recovery of the wild turkey population.
Scheduled for Saturday, January 3, from 2 to 3 p.m., the program will be led by Ranger Goodeaux and will examine how wild turkeys rebounded from the brink of disappearance to become a thriving presence in the state's forests.
The presentation will cover multiple aspects of wild turkey biology and conservation, including the bird's natural history, behavioral characteristics, and the unique adaptations that make it well-suited to its environment. Participants will learn about the conservation and habitat restoration initiatives that enabled the species to recover after being nearly eliminated from Pennsylvania. Register online here
Township Offers Eco-Friendly Solution for Worn-Out Holiday Decorations
UPPER UWCHLAN TWP — Upper Uwchlan Township has launched a free holiday light recycling program to help residents dispose of old, broken or unwanted string lights in an environmentally responsible manner. The initiative runs from December 1 through January 15, 2026.
A collection bin has been placed outside the main entrance of the township building at 140 Pottstown Pike in Chester Springs, where residents can drop off their used holiday lights during regular business hours. The building is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Township officials have asked residents to prepare their donations by removing all boxes and spools in advance, ensuring that only the lights with their attached wires are placed in the recycling bin. This preparation helps streamline the recycling process.
