Caln Township Firefighters Earn Medical Certification to Bolster Emergency Response

CALN TWP — Caln Township Professional Firefighters have earned Quick Response Service certification, allowing them to provide basic life support and patient stabilization during medical emergencies while EMS transport units are en route. The certification is intended to reduce response time gaps during high-call-volume periods and strengthen coordination with regional partners Thorndale Fire Company and Minquas EMS.
Downingtown Fills Its Final Vacancy With Swearing-In of Officer Paula Borra

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — The Downingtown Police Department has filled the last of four officer vacancies with the swearing-in of Paula Borra at February's Borough Council meeting. Judge John Bailey and Mayor Erica Deuso administered the oath, marking the conclusion of a hiring push that began after a series of officer retirements left the department short-staffed.
Borra earned her criminal justice degree from Penn State, she worked as a corrections officer before eventually shifting careers into marketing and sales in the medical equipment field. She returned to her law enforcement ambitions more recently, completing her training at the Montgomery County Police Academy this past December.
Borra joins a department that has spent much of the past year working to rebuild its roster. With all four positions now filled, the department enters the remainder of 2025 at full strength.
West Bradford Volunteers Gear Up for a Spring of Cleanups Tied to the Nation's 250th Anniversary

WEST BRADFORD TWP — The West Bradford Litter Lifters are partnering with Keep Chester County Beautiful to participate in the Greatest American Cleanup, a statewide beautification effort tied to the nation's 250th anniversary. Volunteers ages 13 and up can sign up for a series of cleanup and conservation events scheduled between March 7 and April 24, including roadside litter pickups, invasive vegetation removal, and an Arbor Day tree planting.
