Large Pothole on Route 30 Bypass Leaves Up to 20 Vehicles With Flat Tires

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — As reported by Irisheyez Chesco, A dangerous pothole on the eastbound Route 30 Bypass, located just east of the Route 113 interchange, resulted in a string of tire failures Thursday, disabling an estimated 10 to 20 vehicles along the shoulder of the roadway. The pothole's size and position on a high-speed corridor made it difficult for drivers to react in time, leading to a rapid buildup of stranded motorists. Pennsylvania State Police have been made aware of the hazard. Residents and commuters using the Route 30 Bypass are strongly encouraged to slow down and stay alert in the affected stretch until repairs are made.
One of Six Counties Nationwide, Chester County to Lead Youth Crisis Intervention Pilot

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County has earned a rare distinction in the field of youth mental health, becoming one of only six counties in the country selected to pilot the Crisis Intervention Team – Youth (CIT-Y) training program, developed by NAMI Keystone Pennsylvania. The program builds on established Crisis Intervention Team training used with adults, but focuses specifically on the unique mental health needs of young people — particularly those who come into contact with the juvenile justice system. The first local training ran March 4–6 and brought together more than 15 departments, agencies, and community organizations, covering topics including adolescent brain development, recognizing mental health symptoms in youth, and strategies for connecting young people to the right services. The program is led locally by the Chester County Department of Mental Health/Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, whose staff developed a close working relationship with NAMI Keystone over several years — a collaboration that helped secure Chester County's selection. County officials see the pilot as more than a local initiative, expressing hope that what is learned here will help guide the expansion of CIT-Y across Pennsylvania.
Family Heirlooms From the 1800s Now on Display at Springton Manor Farm

GLENMOORE, PA — A pair of 19th-century spinning wheels have been donated to Chester County Parks and Preservation and are now on permanent display at Springton Manor Farm's agricultural museum in the Great Barn. The smaller wheel, a gift from Ranger Erb and the Erb family, was used to spin flax, one of the most economically important crops in early Chester County. The larger wheel came from former Parks and Preservation staff member Susan Manwiller and her family, and was designed for spinning wool — another cornerstone of the county's agricultural heritage. Both wheels had remained in their respective families for well over a century before being donated. The artifacts add a tactile, personal dimension to the museum's collection, grounding the story of Chester County's agricultural past in objects that were once part of everyday domestic and economic life.
Stolen Vehicle Investigation Leads to Exton Arrest, Three Charges Filed

WEST WHITELAND TWP — A 26-year-old man, Laquan Speller, was arrested by West Whiteland Township police on March 4 following a motor vehicle theft investigation in Exton. Officers took him into custody in the 100 block of East Swedesford Road. He has since been charged with receiving stolen property, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and driving with suspended or revoked operating privileges. The investigation remains ongoing. As is standard in all criminal matters, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until guilt is established in a court of law.
