CALN TWP — PennDOT will begin overnight base repair operations on Route 30 (Coatesville Downingtown Bypass) in Chester County from Sunday, October 26, through Thursday, October 30. The eastbound section between Business Route 30 and North Bailey Road will be reduced to a single lane between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. nightly. Updates and road conditions are available through PennDOT’s 511PA service.

Halloween Moonwalk Returns to Rapps Dam Trail

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — The Halloween Moonwalk returns to East Pikeland Township on Friday, October 24, offering an evening of seasonal fun along the Rapps Dam Trail. Running from 6 to 8 p.m., the free event invites people of all ages to enjoy a nighttime trail walk while wearing costumes. Close-toed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended. Rapps Dam Bridge will be closed for the duration of the event. Attendees should park at the East Pikeland Township Building or the National Guard Armory, located at 1158 Rapps Dam Road.

Chester County Hospital Approved for 2026 Tobacco Settlement Funding

WEST CHESTER, PA — Following a review by the Pennsylvania Department of the Auditor General, Chester County Hospital has been found eligible to receive funds through the state’s 2026 Tobacco Settlement Program. The audit confirmed 11 extraordinary expense claims related to high-cost, uncompensated care for uninsured patients. The hospital also reported 78,534 inpatient days for the prior fiscal year, with only minor reporting errors noted. These findings allow the hospital to qualify under the extraordinary expense reimbursement category. Part of the University of Pennsylvania Health System, the hospital now awaits final subsidy calculations and has until October 31 to submit any additional claims.

Bomba Accepts Iron Hill Gift Cards for Limited-Time Discount

MALVERN, PA — After the sudden closure of Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant and a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing, Bomba ¡Tacos + Tequila is offering a limited solution for customers holding unused gift cards. The cards can be redeemed for a 25% discount on purchases up to $1,000 at Bomba’s East Whiteland and Newtown locations—resulting in a maximum discount of $250. The cards will be returned to users for potential future claims if Iron Hill issues refunds. The defunct brewery chain, which had more than $20 million in debt and just $125,000 in cash at the time of filing, shut down all remaining locations in September. Customers are encouraged to contact the state Bureau of Consumer Protection or their credit card companies for additional recourse.
