Borough Council Waives Parking Fees for Holiday Season

DOWNINGTOWN, PA β€” Downingtown Borough Council has approved free parking in all municipal lots from November 27 through January 1. The unanimous decision aims to encourage residents and visitors to patronize local businesses during the holiday shopping season. While parking fees are suspended, two-hour time limits in certain areas remain enforceable. The measure represents the borough's effort to support its commercial district during the crucial end-of-year retail period while extending goodwill to the community.

Bridge Work to Close Lanes on West Pikeland's Route 401 Next Week

WEST PIKELAND TWP β€” Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission bridge construction will cause lane closures on Conestoga Road (Route 401) in West Pikeland Township next week. Alternating lanes will close Monday through Wednesday, November 24-26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., between Newcomen Road and 7 Oaks Road. Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone. Transportation officials warn motorists to expect delays and allow extra travel time. The construction schedule is weather-dependent and could be adjusted if conditions deteriorate.

Caln Township to Close Olive Street Stretch Through February

CALN TWP β€” Olive Street in Caln Township will be detoured starting November 24 for water line installation work extending through February 2026. The closure affects the section between South Caln Road and 13th Avenue, with detours in effect from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. The three-month infrastructure project will require motorists to use alternative routes during daytime hours. A detour map is available on the Caln Township website to help drivers navigate around the construction zone.

WCU Wells School Celebrates 104th Annual Holiday Performance

WEST CHESTER UNIVERSITY β€” West Chester University's Wells School of Music will present its 104th annual holiday concert on December 6 at 3 p.m. in Asplundh Concert Hall. The program features hundreds of student musicians performing in multiple ensembles, including the Symphony Orchestra, Grand Chorus, and the returning WCU Pops Orchestra. Vocal performance major Julia Webster will perform the traditional O Holy Night solo. The concert includes seasonal favorites and a pre-concert organ recital. Tickets are $15, with advance purchase recommended for the popular event.
