Downingtown Temporarily Suspends Digital Payments Amid System Transition

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Downingtown Borough is undergoing a billing software upgrade that has temporarily limited payment options for residents. Effective March 13 at 5 p.m., the Borough is no longer accepting online payments or in-person credit and debit card transactions. During this transition period, only cash and check payments will be processed.

The new online payment system is expected to go live by April 1, and the updated payment link will appear on residents' April billing statements, making the transition largely seamless for those on a regular billing cycle.

Community Leaders Recognized at Downingtown Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Dinner

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — The Downingtown Area Chamber of Commerce wrapped up its Annual Dinner this week, bringing together community members and local leaders at the Downingtown Country Club for an evening of recognition and celebration.

The highlight of the night was the presentation of three annual awards spotlighting outstanding contributions to the Downingtown area. Kevin Zeeger received the Citizen of the Year award, acknowledged for his personal impact on the community. The Hankin Group was honored as Business of the Year, reflecting its continued role as a significant presence in the local business landscape. Lord's Pantry, a nonprofit dedicated to serving those in need, was recognized as Non-Profit of the Year for its ongoing community work.

The event was made possible through the support of several local vendors. Bullseye Print Co. produced the evening's programs, Image Ink Promo created the awards themselves, and Wildflower Balloons contributed a balloon donation to the festivities.

Chester County Planning Commission Releases 2025 Annual Report, Marking 75 Years of Service

WEST CHESTER, PA — The Chester County Planning Commission has released its 2025 Annual Report, providing the Chester County Board of Commissioners and the public with a comprehensive look at the agency's work throughout the year.

The report arrives during a landmark year for the Commission, which marked its 75th anniversary in 2025. That milestone served as a backdrop to what the agency described as a year of continued progress across multiple planning priorities, including sustainability initiatives, trail development, and a number of projects recognized with outside awards.

The report is structured around Landscapes3, Chester County's adopted long-range comprehensive plan, and walks through achievements in each of its core goal areas. The framework has guided planning decisions throughout the county in recent years, and the 2025 report reflects how individual projects and partnerships are helping to advance that broader vision. Water Main Work Begins Monday on Broad Run, Shadyside, and Poorhouse Roads

WEST BRADFORD TWP — Residents along several township roads should prepare for construction activity beginning next week, as Aqua Pennsylvania launches a major water main replacement project spanning three roadways.

Starting March 16, crews will work to install 11,000 feet of new water main — just over two miles — across Broad Run Road, Shadyside Road, and Poorhouse Road. The work will be contained to weekday hours between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., limiting the impact on morning and evening commuters. However, residents along the affected stretches should expect shifting access points to their properties as work zones move throughout the project's duration. Emergency vehicles, mail carriers, and trash collection services will retain access at all times.

After installation is complete, the new water main will go through a required flushing, chlorination, and testing process before being activated. In the meantime, any road trenches opened during construction will be patched with temporary asphalt each evening. Full, permanent restoration of the affected road surfaces is planned for summer 2026. Click here to read the letter
