Downingtown Local Pulse Dinner Club: Meet Your Neighbors Over Dinner!

Downingtown Local Pulse is more than a newsletter. It's how we bring locals together offline, too. That's why we're launching the Downingtown Local Pulse Dinner Club, hosted by our friends at dnnr.io.

We know making new friends as an adult isn't easy. This is a fun, low-pressure way to meet people nearby who share your interests and values.

Here's how it works:

✨ Get matched with five other locals based on shared interests, values, food preferences and budget.

📍 Meet for dinner on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at [TIME] at a restaurant in or around Downingtown. We'll reveal it the morning of.

🥂 After dinner, all tables regroup at a nearby spot for a casual meetup.

💵 Booking is $15.99, and it supports Downingtown Local Pulse.
🍝 Each guest pays for their own meal.

Seats are limited, so grab yours soon.

👉 Take the quiz and book your seat at chescopulse.dnnr.io

Got questions? Drop a note in the chat bubble at the bottom right of the Dinner Club page, and the team will help you out.

We can't wait to see who you'll meet, and the connections you'll leave with! 💙

Chester County Bar Golf Startup Kicks Off in Downingtown

USBGA Kickoff event at The Borough in Downingtown

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — A Chester County startup is turning Wednesday nights at The Borough in Downingtown into league night for golfers. The United States Bar Golf Association, founded by Chris Lamarra, sets up three indoor golf enclosures at each partner bar and runs leagues and tournaments on par-3 courses.

Mr. Lamarra says the league is built around community, not serious competition. He wants it to be a place where people can make friends, work on their game and spend a couple of hours out of the house, especially those who cannot make time for a round on a traditional course.

A first round costs $20, and later rounds are $25, each covering two hours of unlimited play. Reservations are made online at USBGA.net.

The company is operating in four bars, with nine expected to be running by the first week of November. Eight more are on a waiting list.

I Almost Threw Out My Keurig. It Wasn't Broken.

Every cup from my Keurig started tasting weak, flat, stale — so I unplugged it and stuck it in a closet. Then I learned the dirty secret of grocery store K-Cups: by the time a pod reaches your kitchen, it's usually spent months going from factory to warehouse to truck to shelf. The flavor oils are long gone. Some brands even over-roast to hide it.

The fix wasn't a new machine. It was fresh pods from Angelino's, a family-owned L.A. roastery that roasts, packs, and ships within 3–5 days — straight to your door, from 39¢ a cup. Over 1,000,000 happy customers. 50+ flavors, no subscription required, and 15% off your first order, applied automatically at checkout.

Commissioners Recognize Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Month

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County is formally recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Month. The County Commissioners presented a proclamation this week to the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County, where it was accepted by Dr. Dolly Wideman-Scott, the chief executive officer, and Dr. Yasoda Sharma, the board president.

The Chester County Courthouse is lit in purple this week to mark the occasion.

Abandoned Pets Are a Growing Problem in Chester County Parks

COATESVILLE, PA — Chester County Parks + Preservation is warning that more pets are being abandoned in county parks. In the latest case, a cat was left at Hibernia County Park last week. Parks maintenance staff caught the frightened animal before she was hurt.

The agency says parks are not safe places for domestic animals and is asking owners who can no longer care for a pet to turn to their local SPCA or an animal rescue organization instead.

DARC Is Hiring a Full-Time Recreation Program Coordinator

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — The Downingtown Area Recreation Consortium, which runs year-round recreation programs for residents and students of the Downingtown Area School District, is seeking a full-time recreation program coordinator.

The coordinator will plan and manage youth and adult programs, camps, special events, fitness offerings and leagues, and will also handle program promotion, equipment and supplies. The position requires evening and weekend hours.
