Chester County 911 Dispatcher Honored for Guiding Wife Through Life-Saving CPR

WEST CHESTER, PA β€” Chester County commissioners recognized 911 dispatcher Kayla Wettlaufer during their Feb. 4 meeting for her role in saving Robert Borzillo's life after he suffered a cardiac emergency at his Willistown home. The incident occurred on Nov. 14, just three days after Borzillo and his wife Terri returned from France. While emptying the dishwasher, Robert suddenly collapsed and stopped breathing.

Terri Borzillo called 911 and reached Wettlaufer at the county's Emergency Communications Center in West Goshen. The dispatcher methodically guided the frightened wife through performing CPR with a steady cadence until Paoli Fire Company responders arrived. Robert Borzillo, who experienced no warning symptoms before his collapse, survived thanks to the coordinated efforts.

Commissioners Marian Moskowitz, Josh Maxwell, and Eric Roe praised Wettlaufer and her colleagues for their often-unrecognized work. The county's Emergency Communications Center operates 24/7, handling more than 400,000 calls yearly from 73 municipalities serving over 500,000 residents. The center coordinates with 53 police agencies, 40 fire and rescue units, and 26 emergency medical services organizations.

High-Speed Chase Ends in Crash After Bank Robbery

AVONDALE, PA β€” Pennsylvania State Police arrested a Massachusetts man Friday after he allegedly robbed a Chester County bank at knifepoint and led troopers on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash. Nicholas Casaburri, 44, of Leominster, Massachusetts, entered the Santander Bank on Gap Newport Pike in Avondale just before 11 a.m., brandished a knife, and demanded money from employees.

Bank staff complied with his demands, handing over $11,350 in cash. Casaburri then fled the scene, prompting a police pursuit through the area. During the chase, investigators said his vehicle made minor contact with a police car, but he continued attempting to escape at high speed. The pursuit concluded when Casaburri lost control of his vehicle and crashed on Clay Creek Road near West Street Road.

Bald Eagle Who Soars at Eagles Games Takes Flight in Budweiser Commercial

PHILADELPHIA, PA β€” The bald eagle featured in Budweiser's Super Bowl commercial this year has traveled an unlikely path from scavenging trash to performing before millions. Lincoln, a 27-year-old eagle who regularly flies at Philadelphia Eagles home games, stars in the beer company's anniversary advertisement alongside one of its signature Clydesdale horses.

Lincoln's story began in the early 2000s when he arrived at the American Eagle Foundation in Tennessee as part of a breeding program for the then-endangered species. The foundation twice attempted to release him into the wild, but he was found severely malnourished both timesβ€”once eating fried chicken from a garbage can in Indiana, another time accepting bacon from a homeowner in Michigan. His natural hunting instincts never developed.

Rather than view this as failure, the foundation recognized Lincoln's potential as an educational ambassador. The organization, which houses more than 40 rescued eagles, trains birds that cannot survive independently but show comfort around humans. Using trust-based positive reinforcement, trainers spend hours building relationships with eagles in aviaries, gradually introducing new environments and stimuli.

Springton Manor Farm to Host Maple Syrup Demonstration

GLENMOORE, PA β€” Chester County's parks department is inviting residents to learn about traditional maple syrup production during its annual program at Springton Manor Farm on March 8. The event, which offers multiple time slots throughout the day, will teach participants how maple trees are tapped and how sap is transformed into syrup through the boiling process.

The timing of the program coincides with the brief window when warming spring weather triggers sap flow in maple trees. Rangers will guide attendees through demonstrations that explain both the tapping technique and the concentration process required to turn watery sap into finished syrup.
