Nearly 100 Animals Rescued From Neglected Delaware Home Arrive at Chester County SPCA

CALN TWP — On Thursday, October 2, Barley Sheaf Road in Caln Township will be temporarily closed from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for continued road repairs. The closure spans the section between Route 340 and North Barley Sheaf Road. While the road will be inaccessible to general traffic, school buses, emergency services, and local vehicles will still be able to pass through as needed. The repairs are part of an ongoing effort to maintain and improve local infrastructure.
First-Time Offender Sentenced in West Chester University Drug Case
WEST CHESTER, PA — Immanuel DeLeon, 20, of Northeast Philadelphia, received a sentence of five to 23 months in Chester County Prison after pleading guilty to drug-related charges tied to a September 2024 incident at West Chester University. DeLeon fled from a stolen vehicle flagged by campus police and was later found hiding near the university’s police station. Authorities discovered drugs on his person and additional contraband, including a modified handgun, inside the vehicle. However, firearm charges were dropped, as the weapon was believed to belong to the vehicle’s driver. DeLeon, who has no prior criminal record, expressed intentions to pursue a military career. The judge urged him to move forward positively, and he will be credited for time already served.
West Chester’s Fall Gallery Walk Returns With 26 Stops on Friday

WEST CHESTER, PA — This Friday, West Chester’s Fall Gallery Walk will bring art to the forefront of the borough from 4 to 8 p.m., with 26 stops spanning galleries, pop-up exhibits, and local shops. Organized by Downtown West Chester and sponsored by Founders Brewing Co., the self-guided event celebrates the local arts scene, offering a variety of media and artist meetups along the way. Maps of participating venues are available online and at the event. Organizers encourage visitors to stay for dinner at downtown restaurants after the walk.
Public Hearings Set for Rockwell’s Proposed Residential Development

Uwchlan Twp — Uwchlan Township will host special Planning Commission meetings on October 14 and 15 to evaluate a major residential development proposal by Rockwell Downingtown LLC. The project calls for 611 homes, a natatorium, a nature trail, and over 130 acres of preserved open space on the School District Property on Lionville Station Road. The developer is also seeking a zoning amendment to establish a Planned Residential Development overlay. While the October 14 meeting will focus on the developer’s presentation and commission questions, the October 15 session will include public comment. Written feedback can be submitted between October 16 and 30. A decision on whether to recommend the plan to the Board of Supervisors, which may hold a hearing in November, is expected at the conclusion of the meetings. A separate industrial development plan for the site remains on hold.

Two New Ways for Local Businesses to Shine in the Downingtown Local Pulse

Downingtown is built on the strength of its small businesses — the shops, restaurants, services, and makers that give our community its unique character. Now, there are two new ways for those businesses to get in front of thousands of engaged local readers through the Downingtown Local Pulse.
We’re introducing two promotional programs designed to give businesses year-round visibility and meaningful connections with our audience:
1. Partner Program

Both programs are built to keep your business in the local conversation month after month — not just as an ad, but as a valued part of the community’s story.
