Dowlin Forge Bridge Reopens After Months-Long Closure as School Begins

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Dowlin Forge Road in Uwchlan Township has reopened after a closure since May 17 for bridge repairs. PennDOT completed the work on schedule, restoring a key route between Route 282 and Dorlan Mill Road.
West Pikeland Officer Recognized for Alert Police Work

WEST PIKELAND TWP — Officer Kurt DeForrest of West Pikeland Township was honored by the Board of Supervisors for his role in identifying a registered sexually violent predator parked near a children’s camp at the Montgomery School on July 25. The individual, who had not updated his Megan’s Law registration and tried to conceal his vehicle’s identity, was also under investigation for another sexual offense, had ten active traffic warrants, was not attending court-ordered counseling, and was driving on a suspended license. Officer DeForrest's actions led to the Pennsylvania State Police issuing a warrant.
West Chester Bans Sale of Dogs, Cats, and Rabbits in Pet Stores

WEST CHESTER, PA — In a move to limit the reach of large-scale commercial breeding operations, West Chester Borough Council voted 5-1 to ban the retail sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits. The ordinance, supported by local and regional animal advocacy groups, targets the supply chain from so-called “puppy mills” to pet shops. Advocates highlight health and welfare concerns, citing poor conditions, unethical practices, and risks to public health. Pet stores may continue to offer services such as grooming and training, but will no longer be permitted to sell animals sourced from breeders.
PECO Proposes $1.97 Billion Grid Upgrade to Tackle Storms, Aging Infrastructure

PHILADELPHIA, PA, — PECO has filed a five-year, $1.97 billion investment plan with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission aimed at upgrading its electric infrastructure. The Reliability & Resiliency 2030 Plan will replace aging cables, substations, and electric meters, and invest heavily in storm-prone areas to reduce outages. The improvements are part of PECO’s broader $10 billion infrastructure strategy. In addition to enhancing reliability, the upgrades will support cleaner energy adoption and electric vehicle usage by strengthening the grid’s capacity.
Two New Ways for Local Businesses to Shine in the Downingtown Local Pulse

Downingtown is built on the strength of its small businesses — the shops, restaurants, services, and makers that give our community its unique character. Now, there are two new ways for those businesses to get in front of thousands of engaged local readers through the Downingtown Local Pulse.
We’re introducing two promotional programs designed to give businesses year-round visibility and meaningful connections with our audience:
1. Partner Program
This package gives businesses a featured listing in our Local Business Directory, making it easy for residents to find and support you. Partners also receive:
A monthly Business Spotlight article that tells your story.
A pinned article on our website for maximum visibility.
Exposure to our massive Facebook audience, with each feature shared across our highly engaged social channels.
2. Patron Program
For businesses ready to take their visibility to the next level, the Patron Program includes everything in the Partner Program plus:
A top-level ad placement one issue a month, ensuring your brand stays front and center.
Both programs are built to keep your business in the local conversation month after month — not just as an ad, but as a valued part of the community’s story.
Whether you’re a family-run shop, a growing startup, or a well-established local favorite, these programs offer an affordable way to boost your visibility while supporting the Downingtown Local Pulse’s mission to celebrate the people and businesses that make our town special.
