False Active Shooter Report at Villanova Triggers Campus Lockdown
VILLANOVA, PA — A false report of an active shooter at Villanova University Thursday afternoon led to a swift and intense emergency response, with students and staff sheltering in place and law enforcement combing the campus. The call, which claimed a shooting had occurred at the law school, was later declared a hoax. The disruption came during freshman orientation and left the campus community rattled, though no injuries were reported. A similar incident at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga earlier the same day was also determined to be a false alarm. Authorities are investigating the origins of both calls. Airshow and Vintage Car Festival to Take Over Toughkenamon This Weekend

TOUGHKENAMON, PA — Chester County’s skies will come alive this weekend with the return of the Festival of Flight at the New Garden Flying Field in Toughkenamon. Taking place Saturday and Sunday, the event showcases a range of aerial performances, vintage cars, antique aircraft, and family-friendly attractions. Saturday features evening entertainment including fireworks and a drone light show, while Sunday continues with more flight demos and displays. The festival is expected to draw large crowds from across the region. Tickets and parking information are available through the event's website.
TMACC Hosts Transit Pop-Up at Downingtown Farmers Market

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — On Saturday, August 23, TMACC will host a community engagement pop-up at the Downingtown Farmers Market in Kerr Park. Running from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the event offers residents a chance to discuss local commuting options, including SEPTA services, biking infrastructure, and future transit planning. TMACC is aiming to collect 150 survey responses between Malvern and Downingtown, which would trigger an additional $200 in Market Bucks for a future event. Attendees can receive $5 in Market Bucks, browse transit resources, and pick up free swag.
PennDOT to Close Part of Little Conestoga Road for Pipe Work

UPPER UWCHLAN TWP — On Thursday, August 21, PennDOT temporarily closed a section of Little Conestoga Road between Styer Road and Milford Road for a pipe replacement project. The closure will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with marked detours guiding traffic through alternate routes. Today, paving will be completed under a one-lane restriction. The project is independent of the ongoing sewer work on Font Road, where no activity is expected this week. Emergency services have been notified, and motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and proceed with caution through the area.
Two New Ways for Local Businesses to Shine in the Downingtown Local Pulse

Downingtown is built on the strength of its small businesses — the shops, restaurants, services, and makers that give our community its unique character. Now, there are two new ways for those businesses to get in front of thousands of engaged local readers through the Downingtown Local Pulse.
We’re introducing two promotional programs designed to give businesses year-round visibility and meaningful connections with our audience:
1. Partner Program
This package gives businesses a featured listing in our Local Business Directory, making it easy for residents to find and support you. Partners also receive:
A monthly Business Spotlight article that tells your story.
A pinned article on our website for maximum visibility.
Exposure to our massive Facebook audience, with each feature shared across our highly engaged social channels.
2. Patron Program
For businesses ready to take their visibility to the next level, the Patron Program includes everything in the Partner Program plus:
A top-level ad placement one issue a month, ensuring your brand stays front and center.
Both programs are built to keep your business in the local conversation month after month — not just as an ad, but as a valued part of the community’s story.
Whether you’re a family-run shop, a growing startup, or a well-established local favorite, these programs offer an affordable way to boost your visibility while supporting the Downingtown Local Pulse’s mission to celebrate the people and businesses that make our town special.
