Delco Police Officer Suspended Following Allegations of Inappropriate Recording at West Chester YMCA

WEST CHESTER, PA — A part-time Millbourne Borough police officer is facing criminal charges after allegedly filming minors at a YMCA pool in Chester County. Authorities say that on July 23, 52-year-old Mark Mackrell was confronted by lifeguards after appearing to record children but refused to provide identification, instead showing his police badge.

A later search of Mackrell’s phone revealed multiple images and videos of minors, along with audio of inappropriate comments about the children. Mackrell is charged with unlawful contact with minors, stalking, and related offenses. The Millbourne Borough Police Department has suspended him while the investigation continues.

Communities That Care of Greater Downingtown Appoints New Executive Director

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Communities That Care of Greater Downingtown (CTC) has announced the appointment of Carmen Glenn as its new executive director. Glenn, who began volunteering with the nonprofit in 2015 and joined its staff in 2019, has played a key role in advancing programs that promote youth mental health and prevent substance use.

In her new role, Glenn plans to build on the organization’s partnerships with schools, families, and local agencies to further its mission of empowering young people. CTC is a coalition of community stakeholders working to create positive environments where students can succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Local Students Showcasing Artwork at Library’s Inaugural Exhibit

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — The Downingtown Library is launching its inaugural Youth Art Show on Tuesday, August 5, offering the public a chance to view original works created by students from elementary through high school. The opening night reception, held from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Krapf Room, will feature art organized by age group, showcasing a wide range of styles and creativity from local young artists.

The exhibit will remain open for viewing until the final week of August. Library staff hope the event will become an annual tradition, celebrating the talents of youth in the Downingtown area. Attendance is free and open to all, with no registration required.
