Coatesville Receives $4.2 Million to Replace Lead Water Lines

COATESVILLE, PA — A $4.2 million investment is set to transform Coatesville’s water system by replacing 240 lead-impacted service lines. The funding, provided through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority, includes both grant and low-interest loan components designed to ease the financial burden on residents. The initiative aligns with Pennsylvania’s broader public health strategy to modernize infrastructure and eliminate lead from household water supplies. With work expected to begin soon, officials say the improvements will not affect customer water rates.

Chester County Salons Join Fight Against Domestic Violence with ‘Shear Hope’

WEST CHESTER, PA — The Shear Hope domestic violence awareness program, launched this spring by the Chester County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with local legal and advocacy organizations, has already begun training salon professionals to identify signs of abuse and connect clients with critical resources. With three salons participating so far, the initiative taps into the close-knit relationships many people have with their barbers and stylists. The training sessions—offered on Mondays—include expert-led discussions and comprehensive support materials. Organizers hope to expand the program across Chester County in the months ahead, reinforcing community safety through frontline awareness.

Chester County Teens Invited to ‘Color Our World’ in Annual Photo Contest

EXTON, PA — Local teens are encouraged to channel their creativity through the Chester County Library System’s second annual photo contest, which runs through the end of July. With the theme “Color Our World,” the contest offers two categories—one for traditional, minimally edited images and another for digitally enhanced or creatively altered photos. Open to Chester County residents and students in grades 6–12, the contest culminates in an August 10 reception where winners will be announced. Selected photos will be exhibited in the Chester County Library’s lobby through August 29.

County Seeks New Foster Families to Support Children in Crisis

WEST CHESTER, PA — In a continued effort to support children and families across the region, the Chester County Department of Children, Youth and Families is inviting residents to consider becoming foster parents. The department is looking for compassionate individuals or families to provide temporary homes for children in need of care during challenging circumstances. This initiative helps ensure children remain in safe, nurturing environments within their own communities. Residents interested in fostering can contact the department directly to learn more about the process and available support at 610-344-5877 or [email protected].
