Caln Opens Native Wildflower Park Behind Police Station

Journaling Bench

CALN TWP — Caln Meadow Park, a new passive recreation site in Thorndale, marks the culmination of a multi-year effort to convert township-owned turf grass into a native wildflower meadow. The project—spearheaded by Caln Township Parks and Recreation with support from local volunteers, PennState Extension, and state environmental agencies—includes mowed walking paths, seating, educational signage, and a journaling bench. Phase I began in 2022 and Phase II, launched in 2024, expands the meadow to a second acre. More info online

WC to Celebrate Lafayette’s Historic 1825 Visit with Youth March and Faux Dinner

WEST CHESTER, PA — To commemorate the 200th anniversary of Marquis de Lafayette’s 1825 visit, West Chester’s Historical Commission will host two free events on July 26. The day begins with a “Walk with Lafayette,” a youth-friendly reenactment retracing Lafayette’s ceremonial route through town. In the afternoon, a “Lafayette Faux Dinner” at Borough Hall will recreate the celebratory event once held in the old courthouse, featuring historical toasts, music from the Lenape Brass, and the symbolic awarding of honorary citizenship to Lafayette.
