Borough Unveils Construction Timeline for Major Facility Renovations

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Downingtown Borough is undertaking a major municipal facilities upgrade in response to past flood damage and the need for modernized infrastructure. Renovations to Borough Hall, the Public Works Department, and the Police Station will begin in summer 2025. Projects include flood-proofing, improved accessibility, and new mechanical and electrical systems. The work is expected to be completed in phases, with all facilities substantially finished by mid-2026. See the updates on the Borough’s website.
Skelp Level Bridge Construction Reaches Key Milestone

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Construction on Downingtown’s Skelp Level Bridge is proceeding as planned, with key structural work now complete. Since July, the old bridge has been removed, and a new foundation, arch, and support walls have been installed. A temporary utility bridge is in place, and permanent utility relocations are ongoing. Weather or material delays could affect the timeline, but a reopening is expected in early September. See more photos and the update online.
Chester Valley Trail Gets a Green Boost from Local Volunteers
EXTON, PA — The Chester Valley Trail is set to become greener and more shaded, thanks to the efforts of AGC Chemical volunteers who planted over 60 native trees along the route. Organized through Chester County’s Parks and Preservation team, the initiative supports ongoing environmental stewardship goals and aims to improve comfort for trail users during warmer months.
Brandywine Valley SPCA Takes in 33 Pets Displaced by Texas Flooding

WEST CHESTER, PA — In response to recent flooding in Texas, Brandywine Valley SPCA has accepted 33 cats and dogs to help ease overcrowding in shelters there. These pets, previously housed in shelters before the disaster, were transported to SPCA locations in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey to free up space for displaced pets in Texas. While a few have already been adopted, most are still seeking permanent homes. More info at BVSPCA.org
