Dowlin Forge Bridge to Close for Summer Repairs Starting July 21

EAST BRANDYWINE TWP — Beginning July 21, Dowlin Forge Road will be closed to traffic as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation undertakes a repair project on the bridge spanning the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek. The closure is expected to last six to eight weeks. The bridge maintenance is part of a broader effort to maintain infrastructure integrity, and a detour will be implemented to guide traffic around the affected area. Local drivers should prepare for disruptions and adjust their travel plans accordingly.
West Chester Opens Applications for 2025 Christmas Parade
WEST CHESTER, PA — The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications and sponsorships for the 2025 West Chester Christmas Parade, set for Friday, December 5. The event kicks off with the lighting of a new 28-foot Christmas tree on the lawn of the Historic Chester County Courthouse, followed by the main parade through the town’s professionally lit streets. The parade, which draws around 20,000 visitors annually, is the flagship event of Chester County Hospital Lights Up Holiday Weekends in West Chester.
Businesses can sponsor parade elements or entire downtown blocks through a tiered sponsorship program, with branding and participation perks. The Chamber encourages early applications, as participation is capped and spots may fill before the August 29 deadline. More details are available at GreaterWestChester.com.
Wonka Returns to Caln Township’s Summer Series in August

CALN TWP — Caln Township has announced a new date for its Summer Series screening of Wonka, now set for Friday, August 8. The evening will feature themed crafts, including candy bar design and candy necklace making prior to the 8:30 p.m. showing of the film. The event, originally scheduled for June 14, is part of the township’s ongoing efforts to provide free community entertainment through the summer. Residents are also invited to attend the upcoming July 18 screening of Finding Nemo, which remains on the schedule.
