Morning Traffic Advisory Issued for Downingtown Borough For Good Neighbor Day

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Downingtown Borough residents should expect notable traffic disruptions on the morning of July 4 as the “Run for Life” event runs from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Streets along the race route will be closed or limited to traffic, and the area will see a significant number of runners and pedestrians. Residents needing to enter or exit neighborhoods during that time are advised to approach traffic posts cautiously and communicate clearly with police or fire police, who will help direct them safely through the closures. The borough is asking for community cooperation to ensure safety and minimize inconvenience.
Pluto TV Partners With Phoenixville’s Colonial Theatre for Free Movie Weekend

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — The Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville will participate in Pluto TV’s Free Movie Weekend on July 5 and 6, offering complimentary showings of three family-friendly films: Jumanji, Labyrinth, and Hook. Now in its third year of participation, the Colonial is among only five theaters nationwide chosen for this year’s event, which promotes independent cinemas through Pluto TV’s Business Karma initiative. The screenings are part of a national effort to bring communities back to local theaters following the pandemic. Tickets are available online or at the box office. Each film will be preceded by a message from director Sean Baker emphasizing the cultural value of local movie houses.
Chester County Seeks Public Feedback on $3 Million Housing Plan

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County is requesting public input on how to spend over $3 million in federal funds for affordable housing, homelessness prevention, and community development. The 2025 Action Plan — part of a five-year strategy guided by HUD — is currently in draft form and available for review. Proposed allocations include nearly $2.5 million in block grants, close to $1 million for housing partnerships, and more than $200,000 for emergency shelters. Projects span the county and aim to support low-to-moderate-income residents through infrastructure upgrades, public services, and affordable housing initiatives. Comments are being accepted through July 10.
Chester County Taps Procurement Veteran for Key Leadership Role

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County has appointed Kelly Laubach as its new Director of Procurement and General Services, placing her in charge of overseeing all county purchasing operations. With over two decades of experience, including 15 years as Director of Berks County’s Purchasing Department and leadership roles in the Pennsylvania Public Purchasing Association, Laubach brings deep expertise to the position. Her role will focus on maintaining competitive, transparent procurement practices, developing strategic sourcing plans, and working with departments to ensure contract compliance and spending efficiency.
