WCU Secures Landmark $4.7 Million Gift Through Land Partnership in East Whiteland
EAST WHITELAND TWP — West Chester University has secured its largest donation to date—$4.7 million—through a 52-acre land gift facilitated by an anonymous donor and East Whiteland Township. Known as Ridley Springs, the land will be preserved as public open space and an outdoor learning lab for students studying sustainability, environmental science, and related fields. The partnership was made possible through township grant funding, state support, and a local open space referendum. The initiative reinforces shared community goals of conservation, education, and public access to nature.
New Trail Segment and Bridge Underway in Chester Valley Trail Expansion
WEST WHITELAND TWP — Work is underway on a new segment of the Chester Valley Trail, extending the path by one mile west from behind the Walmart in West Whiteland Township to the Oaklands Corporate Center. A key feature of the expansion includes a pedestrian bridge over Whitford Road. During construction, the trail will be closed west of Indian Run Street for safety. The project supports Chester County’s broader initiative to connect the Chester Valley Trail with the Enola Low Grade Trail in Lancaster County, ultimately forming a continuous multi-use trail corridor along the former Philadelphia and Thorndale rail line.
Authorities Discover 13 Homemade Bombs Home of Protest Attendee

No Kings Protest Attendee, Kevin Krebs
WEST CHESTER, PA — Kevin Joseph Krebs, is in custody without bail following a disturbing discovery of 13 improvised explosive devices at his East Whiteland home. Krebs was arrested at a June 14 protest in West Chester carrying weapons and tactical gear. A subsequent search of his residence revealed multiple explosive devices, sketches of grenades, body armor, and other military-style equipment. The items were found in a residential neighborhood, posing a significant threat to nearby homes. Bomb technicians rendered all devices safe on site. Krebs has been charged with several felonies, including possession of weapons of mass destruction and recklessly endangering others. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
Coatesville’s Art Deco Legacy Featured in June 26 Walking Tour

COATESVILLE, PA — Now in its 31st year, Chester County’s Town Tours and Village Walks program has returned for the summer with a focus on “Untold Stories.” The 2025 series highlights the lives of everyday citizens — from shift workers and teachers to Revolutionary War soldiers and local farmers — whose stories often remain in the margins of local history. On June 26, the tour heads to Coatesville’s historic district, where the city’s Art Deco architecture sets the backdrop for stories of individuals and families who helped shape the community. Attendees can expect a guided walking tour, displays, and insights from local authors. Parking is available at the Lukens Executive Building.
