Route 82 Bridge Reopens Ahead of Schedule in West Marlborough

WEST MARLBOROUGH TWP β€” The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has reopened the Route 82 (Doe Run Road) bridge in West Marlborough Township, Chester County, well ahead of schedule. The $1.3 million project, originally set for completion in September, wrapped up three months early. The 1932-era bridge had been closed since November 2024 after inspections found severe deterioration. Construction included a slightly wider concrete deck, improved drainage, resurfaced approaches, and updated signage and markings. Aesthetic features were added to complement the historic surroundings. PennDOT collaborated with multiple agencies, including the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and the Army Corps of Engineers, throughout the project. The bridge serves approximately 5,000 vehicles daily and is expected to enhance safety and reliability for local residents and commercial traffic.
