HARRISBURG, PA — Effective June 5, 2025, Pennsylvania’s new Paul Miller’s Law will ban the use of handheld mobile devices while driving, except for hands-free operation, navigation, or emergency calls. The first year will focus on warnings; fines of $50 begin June 6, 2026. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will introduce enhanced distracted-driving education and testing for new drivers. Should a distracted driver cause serious injury or death, existing statutes allow for an additional five years of incarceration. The law commemorates 21-year-old Paul Miller, who died in 2010 in a crash involving a distracted commercial driver, reinforcing the state’s commitment to road safety and driver accountability.

Chester County to Celebrate Route 10’s 100th Anniversary with Vintage Car Caravan

MORGANTOWN, PA — Chester County will celebrate the centennial of Route 10 with a vintage car caravan on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Beginning at 10 a.m. in Morgantown and ending in Oxford, the event features classic vehicles such as a 1929 Packard Opera Coupe. Participants will receive commemorative replicas of the original 1925 route map and brochure. Spearheaded by the Delaware Valley chapter of the Classic Car Club of America with support from local car groups, the caravan highlights Route 10’s lasting impact on regional development. The celebration includes lunch at the Oxford Hotel and encourages visitors to support local businesses along the way.

St. Joseph Community Festival Returns to Downingtown

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Running from June 17 through June 21, the St. Joseph Community Festival in Downingtown marks the beginning of summer with a traditional parish-run celebration. Organized entirely by volunteers from Chester County’s largest Catholic parish, the festival features a midway with rides and games, parish food booths, nightly entertainment, bingo, and Friday night fireworks. With no third-party vendors, all attractions—from the bake sale to the cheer wheel—are managed by local parishioners. Krapf Bus will again provide shuttle service Thursday through Saturday.

Turks Head Festival Brings Live Music, Art, and Community to Everhart Park

WEST CHESTER, PA — The Turks Head Music Festival will take place on Sunday, June 8, from noon to 7 p.m. in West Chester’s Everhart Park, with a rain date of June 15. The free event features seven local bands performing a range of musical genres, including rock, blues, hip-hop, and soul. More than 70 vendor booths will offer handmade crafts and goods, alongside local food vendors. Established in the 1970s and supported by the borough’s recreation department since the 1980s, the festival is a longstanding summer tradition that reflects the artistic and communal identity of West Chester.
