Messages of Support to Line Downingtown Streets This July

DOWNINGTOWN, PA —n the spirit of unity and celebration, Downingtown is once again inviting residents to take part in its Good Neighbor Day festivities by purchasing red heart signs bearing short, heartfelt messages. These signs will hang along the town’s main corridors and race route in the days surrounding the Fourth of July.

Proceeds benefit local emergency services, while the messages themselves provide a unique platform for residents to express love, encouragement, or appreciation for friends, neighbors, businesses, or race participants. Each heart costs $55 and must be ordered by June 8 via the Good Neighbor Day website.

Vote Now: Brandywine River Among Top Picks for Tubing in the U.S.

CHADDS FORD, PA — The Brandywine River, a popular retreat for tubing and relaxation, has been named a finalist in USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for Best River for Tubing. Flowing gently through Pennsylvania and Delaware, the river draws countless visitors each summer to float its peaceful waters, particularly along the route that starts near the Brandywine Museum of Art and winds through Brandywine Creek State Park.

Its serene current and tree-lined banks have long made it a favorite among families and outdoor enthusiasts. Now, with a national spotlight and a current third-place ranking, the river is gaining recognition well beyond the local area. Community members and fans can cast their votes until June 2.

Historic West Chester Comes Alive with Porch Performances

WEST CHESTER, PA — West Chester Porchfest, organized by the West Chester Green Team, is set to return this spring with an afternoon of live music, neighborhood connection, and environmental education. Hosted in the southwest section of the borough, the event invites attendees to wander between homes and enjoy performances from local musicians who volunteer their time. Beyond the music, Porchfest incorporates family-friendly activities, food trucks, and booths promoting sustainability initiatives such as dark sky awareness, native plant gardening, and reducing reliance on pesticides and fossil fuels. The event reflects the borough’s recognition as a Transition Town, a global movement focused on local action for climate and community resilience. More info online here

West Bradford to Host Social Media Safety Seminar for Families

WEST BRADFORD TWP — West Bradford Township, in partnership with the Chester County Sheriff’s Office, will hold a free seminar on May 9 titled Think Before You Post, offering families an opportunity to better understand how social media use can shape a young person’s future.

Running from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., the seminar will address the risks and consequences associated with online behavior, including how posts can affect prospects for college, employment, or military service. Representatives from the District Attorney’s Office and Emergency Services will join the Sheriff’s Office in leading the event, providing real-world examples and guidance on maintaining a responsible digital presence.

Open to both students and parents, the seminar emphasizes the importance of awareness and caution in an increasingly connected world. Registration is required to attend.
