‘Honoring Our Heroes’ Flag Display Celebrates Local Service Members

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — The Borough of Downingtown has launched the first phase of its “Honoring Our Heroes” flag program, with flags now lining West Pennsylvania Avenue as a tribute to local veterans. The initiative allows residents to purchase flags in recognition of friends and family members who served in the military. The Public Works Department installed the first set of flags this week, with plans to expand the display in future rounds. Due to strong interest, a waiting list has been opened for those wishing to take part in the next installment. Additional information and sign-ups are available through the Downingtown Veterans Memorial website.

Caln Township Launches Monthly Historic Tours This Sunday

CALN TWP — This Sunday marks the beginning of Caln Township’s seasonal historic tour series, with monthly events planned from May through October. Each first Sunday of the month, the public is invited to visit two historic sites—the Hexagonal Schoolhouse and the Old Caln Meetinghouse—for free tours from 1 to 3 p.m. The tours, hosted by the Caln Historical Commission and the Old Caln Historical Society, highlight the township’s rich architectural and cultural history. Visitors can explore the distinctive design of the one-room Hexagonal Schoolhouse and the significance of the Quaker-founded Meetinghouse, gaining insight into Caln’s colonial-era roots.

Summer Movie Nights Return to Broad Run Park

WEST BRADFORD TWP — West Bradford Township is once again hosting its popular Summer Movie Nights at Broad Run Park, beginning June 5 and continuing through August 7. The series features free outdoor screenings of PG-rated movies every other Wednesday evening at 8:30 p.m., including titles like Moana 2, The Wild Robot, and Mufasa: The Lion King. Each event also features $1 ice cream, adding a sweet touch to the family-friendly evenings. Residents are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy the relaxed, community-focused atmosphere.

Pedals and Purpose: TMACC Community Bike Drive Supports Workforce Mobility

COATESVILLE, PA — On Saturday, May 3, Chester County’s second annual Community Bike Drive will take place at Penn State Great Valley from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Organized by TMACC, the event invites residents to donate gently-used bicycles to support a growing need for low-cost commuting options among Southern Chester County workers. The donated bikes will be cleaned and repaired by volunteers from Bike Chester County, then distributed in the fall by Bike Kennett. The initiative is part of a broader effort to reduce landfill waste, promote transportation equity, and support sustainable mobility. Small adult bikes are in especially high demand. Donations are tax-deductible, and receipts will be available at the event.
