FBI Brings Anti-Fraud Seminar for Seniors to Chester County

CHESTER SPRINGS, PA — With scams against older adults on the rise, the FBI’s Philadelphia Division is bringing an educational seminar to Chester Springs. The free Elder Fraud Awareness event will take place on May 14 at The Barn at Upland Farm and is aimed at those aged 55 and older.
The seminar, hosted by the Fort Washington Resident Agency, will cover a range of common scams including tech support hoaxes, romance cons, fake lottery winnings, and schemes impersonating family members. Officials will discuss how these scams work, what warning signs to watch for, and how to report them.
The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session. Although free to attend, the session is limited to 100 participants, and Upper Uwchlan Township residents are encouraged to register in advance.
Discover the Life and Legacy of the Struble Trail This Saturday

UWCHLAN TWP — The Struble Trail, a favorite among walkers and cyclists in Chester County, will serve as the backdrop for a historical event on Saturday, May 3. From 1 to 4 p.m., the Uwchlan Township Historical Commission and the Lionville Historic District will co-host The Life and Times of the Struble Trail, inviting residents to explore the trail’s ties to local industry and community development.
Participants can engage with volunteers stationed at historic landmarks, including the Mary Ann (Dowlin) Forge and the section near Dorlan Mill Road. The event aims to offer an accessible, informative experience for visitors of all ages and abilities.
Century-Old Water Mains Replaced in Coatesville Over $35M Upgrade

COATESVILLE, PA — Coatesville and Caln Township are undergoing a major infrastructure upgrade as Pennsylvania American Water replaces aging water mains first laid over a century ago. The $35 million project spans 21 miles from Chester to Lancaster counties and is set for completion by the end of 2026.
Crews are using a mix of techniques to replace and reinforce the water lines, including slip-lining old cast iron mains with durable PVC pipe. This year’s work centers on key areas in Coatesville, including Charles Street and the West End, with next year’s focus shifting toward Olive Street and adjacent neighborhoods in Caln Township.
Originally constructed between 1900 and 1910 by the Pennsylvania Railroad to support its locomotive fleet, the line has changed ownership several times before being acquired by Pennsylvania American Water in 2001. Today’s work is aimed at modernizing the system to prevent water loss, improve pressure, and strengthen fire safety infrastructure.
Police Charge 10-Year-Old, Others in Coatesville Robbery Spree
COATESVILLE, PA — A growing investigation in Coatesville has led to the arrests of eight juveniles, including one as young as 10, in connection with a series of armed robberies across the city. The crimes, which occurred between April 23 and April 28, took place at multiple locations including 5th Avenue and Olive Street, East Lincoln Highway, Gateway Park, and Ash Park.
According to police, the juveniles, all male, were involved in coordinated attacks in which victims—many of them teenagers—were assaulted and robbed at gunpoint. In one instance, a female juvenile was reportedly punched and kicked after being approached by a group of boys with a firearm. In another, a boy was assaulted in Gateway Park, and his backpack, tablet, and sweatshirt were taken.
With the latest charges, the group now includes one 10-year-old, three 12-year-olds, two 14-year-olds, and two 15-year-olds. Two of the older juveniles have been charged as adults. The newly charged individuals are currently being held at the Chester County Youth Detention Center.
