DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Will Howard’s football journey added a new chapter Saturday as the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted the former Downingtown West quarterback in the sixth round. Howard, who led Downingtown West to its first District 1 6A championship, went on to play at Kansas State before transferring to Ohio State, where he helped deliver a national championship this past January.
Throughout his career, Howard faced doubts but responded by leading successful teams and posting strong numbers, including nearly 10,000 passing yards and 83 touchdowns across his college tenure. The Steelers, who passed on other quarterbacks early in the draft, saw value in Howard with the 185th pick.

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Downingtown High School West welcomed Holocaust survivor George Marcus on April 24 for its Yom HaShoah observance, marking the 21st anniversary of the school's Holocaust Memorial. Marcus recounted his experiences as a child in Nazi Germany, including his family’s escape to New York in 1939, offering students a firsthand account of resilience and survival. The school’s memorial, created in 2004 and restored in 2022, serves as both a tribute and a learning space for students.

WEST CHESTER, PA — At a Chester County Election Board meeting this week, four residents — Thomas and Irene Clapper of Phoenixville and William and Linda Scott of West Chester Borough — were inducted into the Pennsylvania Voter Hall of Fame. The recognition honors Pennsylvanians who have voted in every November election for 50 consecutive years.
