Coatesville Teens Charged Following Two Armed Attacks

COATESVILLE, PA โ€” Five juveniles have been arrested after two armed robberies targeting teenagers in Coatesville. Authorities say the suspects โ€” two 12-year-olds, a 13-year-old, and two 14-year-olds โ€” attacked a female victim on April 17 and a male victim at Gateway Park days later, displaying a firearm in both incidents. The group faces charges including armed robbery and aggravated assault. Two of the juveniles are being prosecuted as adults. All are being held at the Chester County Youth Detention Center as the investigation continues.

Clerical Mistake Removes Prothonotary Office From May Primary

WEST CHESTER, PA โ€” Chester County officials have acknowledged an administrative error that excluded the prothonotary position from the May primary ballot. The vacancy, created by the resignation of Debbie Bookman, should have been included in this election cycle. Instead, political parties will nominate candidates internally for the November general election. Commissionersโ€™ Chairman Josh Maxwell and County CEO David Byerman both described the mistake as a good-faith oversight and emphasized efforts to address it promptly. Acting Prothonotary Kristen Hume will continue managing the office until a new official is elected this fall.

Upper Uwchlan Secures $2.1 Million to Combat Forever Chemicals in Water Supply

UPPER UWCHLAN TWP โ€” Upper Uwchlan Township will benefit from a $2.1 million investment aimed at addressing the presence of hazardous chemicals in its drinking water. Funded through PENNVEST and the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the project will enable Aqua Pennsylvania to upgrade the Friendship well facility by installing new anion exchange treatment systems and replacing aging well pumps. The improvements are designed to significantly reduce levels of PFOA and PFOS โ€” chemicals linked to serious health risks โ€” for over 400 residents. Local lawmakers praised the effort but also called for greater corporate responsibility in covering future remediation costs. Officials hope the project will serve as a model for sustainable water management across Pennsylvania.

Brandywine Flood Study Report Released After Year-Long Effort

DOWNINGTOWN, PA โ€” Following a year of research and public engagement, officials have released the final Brandywine Flood Study report. Conducted in partnership with the Brandywine Conservancy, Chester County Water Resources Authority, and the University of Delaware Water Resources Center, the study was launched to better understand and address increasingly frequent flooding events along Brandywine Creek. The findings highlight vulnerable areas and propose strategies for mitigating future risks. The report is intended to help guide local and regional efforts to improve flood resilience and safeguard communities across Pennsylvania and Delaware. Find it here
